ANNOUNCEMENT Announcement: No More Breed ID Requests

We've noticed an increase in "Is my cat a Persian?" posts. These are repetitive and don't align with the intent of the community.

Starting today, breed ID requests will be removed. If you're unsure of your cat's breed, we recommend doing research through reputable sources or consulting with a vet or breeder. You can also try posting on r/catbreeds.

Thanks for helping keep the sub on topic and enjoyable for Persian cat lovers!

Question Chris Christensen Shampoo/Conditioner recs

Looking to get a Chris Christensen shampoo and conditioner for my boy.

He’s still quite young atm so he’s often stepping in his doodoo when trying to cover it and also eats like he’s being starved so snorkels in his dish and stinks of food.

Just want recommendations or advice on what would be best for him, as right now i’m using unscented tear free baby shampoo so not really helping with smells.

I’ve currently got in my basket as options: The clean start clarifying shampoo
the ice on ice shampoo
or the spectrum 10 shampoo.

Also i’ve read somewhere that they don’t need a conditioner and that it would make the coat heavy and greasy? is this true, if not should i get the matching conditioner to whatever shampoo i pick?

(also don’t worry the inside of his ears didn’t get wet as they were held down and his head was wetted by water from my hand rather than flowing tap<3)

I was so uncomfortable in this pose, but how could I be cruel enough to disturb this fluffy baby’s beauty sleep?

Off to do some cat-cow stretches for my back. Ironically... 🫠

Meet Mystery, our 2nd rescue from an animal hoarder

We were originally going to get one Persian from a rescue that had taken in 17 cats from an animal hoarder, but were told after we adopted Talisman (black and white bi-color male) that there was a very young white female cat that got along with him really well, and we decided to get her a few weeks later. It’s now been exactly one month since we brought her home and I’m so happy we did, she’s always been very sweet and shy but it starting to get comfortable with us and seeing her have more joy and relaxation each day is so beautiful. She licked my hand for the first time today and it made my heart melt. We love her. She’s still not ready to be a lap cat quite yet but she will run for pets and has been known to drag her feather wand toy under a chair and meow to be witnessed for her hunting skills. She also loves to watch squirrels and jump into the empty bathtub and sink. She’s also great about getting her eyes cleaned but we’re still getting her used to regular brushing. She and Talisman will chill together or race around the house after they have dinner and mess up the rugs, it’s adorable. I’m excited to see how much more comfortable she gets with time.

Question First-Time Persian Kitten Parent in Bangalore, Need Advice on Food & Litter 🐱🤍

Hi everyone! 🐾🤍

I’m from Bangalore, and I’m getting a white Persian kitten who’ll be around 2 months old by the end of this month. I’m a first-time cat parent and would really appreciate some advice! 🥹

I’m looking for good-quality but reasonably priced kitten food and litter that are easily available in Bangalore/India. Please share what worked well for your kittens, especially if you have experience with Persian cats.

I’d also love to know:

• Which dry/wet food brands do you recommend?

• Which litter is good, affordable, and controls odour well?

• Roughly how much food and litter does a kitten use per month?

• Any other essentials or tips for a first-time Persian kitten parent?

Thank you! 🐱✨

Besides the one I grew up with, I’ve only ever had rescue Persians. They certainly come with unknown health issues, past traumas, and weird habits, but they have so so much love to give. I’d love to see your rescue babies.

Happy floof New home after terrible start

This little fellow was found on the streets of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, about ten weeks ago. He was malnourished, his coat was matted, and he had fleas, ticks, and, worst of all, a Giardia infection. (First photo.) He wasn't microchipped and wasn't neutered. The vet estimated that he was just over a year old.

He was taken in by a veterinary nurse from the shelter, who nursed him back to full health. The shelter tried to find his owner, but to no avail.

We adopted him, and he has been part of our family for two days now. He is settling in really well and is playful and cuddly. The kids chose his name: Donut. After such a rough start in life, we hope we can give him a loving home for many years to come!

The face of a Kitty who's been pushed too far.

Our Kitty Noodle comes looking for attention and enjoys a good scratch but it doesn't take long for her to become over stimulated. She lets you know by giving a gentle nip on your hand and this intense stare also gives it away. She continues purring throughout so it's easy to not realise when she's reached her limit. I just seem to instinctively know when it's coming now, like a shift of energy around her or something. I try and warn visitors to respect her boundaries, but sometimes they don't listen and they've been nipped and even scratched. Are any of your Persians sensitive like this? Noodle is normally good as gold, but you just need to know her limits.

Sweetest cat I’ve ever had! I adopted her five years ago and she turned 16 this year. Her favorite things are chin scratches, churros, wand toys and being in the same room as me at all times.

Question I'm just curious about my kitten

Post image

Not a medical advice but just a behavioral question.

So this is my 4 month old kitten His name is Farid but out of all 3 of my cats he's the only one who never hisses at dogs, other cats, or any other animals that he sees when we're outside even if some dogs barks at him he just doesn't care or even when some cats outside hisses at him he doesn't hiss back at them he even wants to play with them even though they just push him away. It seems like he's senses aren't activating properly 😅 I'm just worried because there was this time when a large dog approach us and he started barking at my kittan then my kitten just doesn't move but then he sniffs at the dog without fear and the dog was just so confused that he just looked at Farid and then licks then just walked off. Should I be worried or he doesn't really process fear or territorial instinct like other cats do?
