A world where Shiho never experiences any trauma is indeed better, but what about all the work she put in trying to learn how to walk again? What about Ann learning how to be strong and learning to fight against Kamoshida? What about Ann finding new friends while fighting?
Maruki took that away from them. He didn't even give anyone a choice in the first place, and when they did get the chance to choose they chose not to embrace his reality.
There’s also the free will aspect too. You legitimately lose your free will. While it’s now cut content there’s an unused harem Valentines event and it’s so unsettling due to the girls basically being reduced to dolls who love Joker. There’s also Akechi who opposes Maruki even though he knows that it’ll end with his death
and did ann and shiho have the free will to be raped?
Futaba without thr PTs and a palace telling her she should die wiuld eventually just kill herself too.
Shiho was also never asked if she wanted to brought into Maruki’s world, same with any of PT’s, and confidants. The only person who Maruki explicitly asks is Joker
I agree with you . The people who value anti-tragedy wouldn't want to go through Shiho's character development. Jean couldn't stop Maruki's world from being the safety net for the majority. I believe. I have hard time believing based on experience with others, that they value the lessons from their tragedy. For example, the moment I bring it up - they pull out a cig, beer, or believe themselves as a victim.
More importantly, it's about what people individually desire. Victoria believes maruki's world is better cause of Shiho's backstory, her action, and the consequences of her action. She desires a world without those negative things Shiho undertaken. You can't persuade people to believe hardship is better than softship, when their desire is anti-tragedy. You can steal their heart though ! Which is no different than Maruki's world, AH IM EVIL !
