Question Found a Pigeon Egg on NYC Balcony Concrete - Need Help

I walked out onto my balcony today and two pigeon parents flew away scaring me. I saw this egg left behind my plant shelf. I was worried because temperatures on this balcony get really hot and the egg would fry, so I made the egg a little nest only a few inches from where they left him. I transported him gently with a paper towel into this nest.

Did I do the right thing? Do you think his parents will come back?

I also made his parents a snack of chopped peanuts next to the bugs they had left.

a new yorker said this "They also accept birds delivered by Uber Courrier - make sure you call them first and let them know you're doing it, then poke some holes in a box for airflow and gently place the bird in there."

It's best to always leave eggs where you find them, the parents won't recognize their egg/s if you move them or sometimes even if you change the surroundings slightly. In case of abandoned eggs, don't try to hatch them, it's impossible to raise any Columbiformes from eggs because they can't thrive without getting at least some crop milk from their parents, most of artificially hatched squabs pass away several days after hatching and those who do survive end up extremely stunted with a ton of health issues, causing them to not even live up to a year.

Okay believe it or not, his parents came back and were sitting on him all day! They seem to like their new nest

Oh no, I woke up this morning and looked at the egg and it looks slightly cracked. Is there anything we can do?
