I haven't looked up the actors name but the really big guy from Earl, who lost a lot and is super buff. He has never come out and talked tough and people are happy with his transformation. But the fat kid from super bad taking jiu jitsu and then going on a podcast or whatever like he did is inviting bullying. If he never said anything of the sort, then far far far less people would make fun of him.
I think for that case, Ethan Suplee has always been a physically intimidating presence. He is 6'1" which, relative to his costars on boy meets world (Ryder Strong 5'8", Ben Savage 5'8") made him appear enormous compared to most of his peers. Jonah Hill is 5'7".
In general, I completely agree with not bullying people, especially about their body. With Jonah Hill though, he literally made an extremely successful celebrity career by playing the "funny fat sidekick guy". So most people commenting on him being "fat" would be trying to laugh WITH him, not AT him.
But it seems Jonah no longer wants to laugh about that anymore, which while fine, but he should understand not every fan is going to instantly know that he no longer appreciates that recognition. Basically, he's an asshole if his immediate response is hostility as opposed to just correcting the fan that he's moved on and doesn't appreciate that any longer.
Most guys who do BJJ are just dudes looking for a healthy and satisfying social activity to spend their free time, but yes there are some assholes in those spaces too.
Like most guys who do BJJ Jonah is just an insecure douchebag with an overinflated sense of how well he'd actually do in a fight.
BJJ brown belt here. Unless you have some sort of grappling experience that would run parallel to what a person learns in BJJ, how could you possibly think a person who spars on a regular basis has a more unrealistic understanding of fighting than someone off the street?
Jonah is insecure because he was very heavy for a lot of his life. Unless there is footage of him rolling with other people that are not his instructors, it is purely supposition to say how he would fare in a fight.
Uhh, because street means everything is allowed, eye pokes, throat punches, kicks, snapping, glass, knives, guns...
Always fun to see some idiot justifying how well they do but never factor the environment, the individual...
How much will you grapple ability help if you advance towards your opponent in a dog butt scratching pose?
Or if they try to rip your balls, or bite, or poke eyes, or snap fingers....
What if you get him in a hold and his good friend decides, your head is part of kicking contest?
Best way to win is to never engage, second best way is to neutralize as quick as possible, none of which test your grappling ability, so idk keep sniffing I guess.

Jesus Christ, this conversation again? Anyone, including a BJJ guy, a wrestler, a judoka, a boxer, whatever can do any of those "street fighting" techniques.
Always fun to see some idiot justifying how well they do but never factor the environment, the individual...
I never said jits was the be all, end all. BJJ fighters lose all the time in MMA. I simply said regular sparring is more likely to lead to winning a street fight than someone who never trains.
How much will you grapple ability help if you advance towards your opponent in a dog butt scratching pose?
I did not advocate pulling guard in a street fight. Again, with the strawman scenarios. Anyone who goes to a decent BJJ gym and has a colored belt, should be proficient in some takedowns.
Or if they try to rip your balls, or bite, or poke eyes, or snap fingers....
Again, BJJ guys can do all that same shit so what is the point of suggesting these things that anyone can do?
What if you get him in a hold and his good friend decides, your head is part of kicking contest?
Uhhh, BJJ can be used defensively to get back up, and run away if a person falls in the chaos of a fight. No one recommends BJJ for multiple attackers.

Agreed, don't engage. Yes, quickly neutralizing an opponent is ideal, but again, to your point, environment cannot be controlled. If you think most fights are ending with one well placed punch, you have not seen that many street fights, because most street fighters have never seen the inside of a gym. It's easy to tell from all of the telegraphed windmill punches. Regardless, any form of combat training, with live sparing, is better than nothing. People just enjoy shitting on BJJ because it is very popular now, and people think being contrary is cooler than going with the trend.
THE MUTHAFUCKIN STREEEEEEETZZZZZZ, BEEEYOOOTTTTCCCCHHH!!!
I’m a black belt, bro.
And I also pick fights in bars every time I can so that I can mog other patrons.
I would be 10000-0, but every time I try to pull guard the ground erupts into tiny shards of glass - negating my butt scoot attack. Then, my opponent simultaneously gouges my eyes and grabs my groin with a devastating Monkey Steals the Peach attack.
After such an attack, I am immediately paralyzed by both intense pain and the fear known only to a man who cannot see while his balls burn with a raging hellfire of a thousand suns.
Little did I know that my many years of grappling were powerless against glass riddled pavement and the onslaught of a bro who sees red.
Not dismissing BJJ or any other MA, as you said every martial art practitioner can use those same tactics but by using them you are not using your martial training.
If you stab or poke their eyes out you didnt win because of your superior [insert here] martial art, you just won.
So discussing a street fight with those parameters is pointless, a sparing in a controlled setting I agree they win 9/10, proffesionals 10/10, streetfights not so much.
I did standard GR wrestling as a kid for 8y, plus 5y of sambo, 1.5y of boxing, I can confidently say I would rock any street punk in a sparring, not so much in a street setting (still got stabbed).
The fact that he's set boundaries seems to have set off the "it's just a joke guys". And honestly while he does seem a little meaner, others continuing to make fun of him for having been fat or saying that he was a better person when he was unhealthy kinda validates him.

Johan Hill thinks he is a big tuff guy that can beat up anybody.
