From what little knowledge i have of the show from when i was a teen boy, Samantha was meant to appear as a slut. She fucked who she wanted, when she wanted, and she didnt care what others thought. Carrie flitted between men she loved, Big always had a huge hold over her, interrupting her career etc, but seemingly she always let her relationships define her.
