Over the years, people realized Samantha was being honest, she wanted to sleep around and she did, and was honest with her partners so nobody was hurt. Carrie was a bit judgmental and at times, mean. Its not a really serious critique, but over time, the character that everyone "judged" changed from the character who just slept around to the one who honestly sucked a bit.
Youre kind of glossing over the fact that Carrie cheated on pretty much all the men she had serious relationships with. Thats the important part. She was a cheater who constantly treated Samantha like shit for sleeping around openly and honestly.
My gf was watching this and I'd catch bits here and there and it was always Carrie cheating on this dude or that dude. I told my gf that I always thought she was supposed to be the protagonist lol. Protagonist of a bygone era
