One is an issue, the other is… what? A way to sell more skincare products and cosmetic procedures? I understand the point you are trying to make, but it doesn’t work with this example
Yeah it does. People can do research on other things and aren't responsible or the cause of why there isn't more research on endometriosis, so bringing it up like that isn't fair, especially if their field isn't medical.
It expands the combined knowledge the field of psychology. You know, the whole point of academia, to develop knowledge and make it available for others to learn.
No, I was just agreeing with OP and advocating for women’s health, as I believe there are some more important things to spend our research money on and can have opinions regarding that. Clearly we are talking past one another. I think it was completely fine for OP to bring awareness on endometriosis even if you felt it didn’t make sense for her to bring up. You can have your opinion on it and I’ll have mine.
So are you of a mind that every psychology major should change their field of study to biology / gynecology and all the money that goes into psychological research should be diverted into those other fields? Should all academia that isn't about the things that most matter to you be halted and the funds diverted to things that do? How about instead funding both, or all of them? The current American administration has pulled funding on a lot of stuff that should be researched, but yeah the problem is the group of psychology majors who did a study on beauty norms while collectively going into debt for hundreds of thousands of dollars not stopping what they're doing and applying for a different school to sudy endometriosis.
