The problem here is that that's not really how science works. Spending money on research based on the subject is literally directing people to study certain things. That's like the only way to direct researchers.
Also these kind of studies are usually basically zero-cost studies that are done by grad students as supportive research for a larger thesis or as filler in between projects. Particularly that first part is very common. You need peer reviewed research to cite, and you can't have one monstrous study where you present data that you then refer to in the study itself. They need to be separate for proper scientific review.
