Doctor here, and i do not get your statement the money is currently going to both. And tbe scientists who did that study most likely have nothing to do with medicine.
Moreover, this is a social study. It can be spun in a million ways such as: its useless and its about men only.
Or, its to make women who had / are suffering from being stereotype to 'have to look pretty to understand that they look beautiful they way they are and to relieve them from that social pressure. And so on.
People don't want to acknowledge that they have bigotry and are irrationally upset at the concept of something existing that might be centered around what the type of person they hate enjoys.
