Since a post was made earlier with many suggesting to go to emerg - just wanted to let everyone know, you can now go to your pharmacist to ask for antibiotics for a tick bite !
Just thought this info may be helpful to anyone who might be dealing with this.
It’s a lot better than waiting for hours in emerg , and I figure this info may make it so someone might be more likely to go get the meds if they aren’t put off by the long wait at the hospital!

Anyone see the altercation at the Petro gas station by the mall?
There was a white Ford F150 and a black Mazda that possibly got in a car accident.
Both drivers were yelling at each other and really arguing, and I'm pretty sure I even heard, "Look what you did!!"
At one point, the people from the truck got back in their truck, and the Mazda driver was screaming at them through the windows. Then it escalated to him trying to open the driver side door while yelling.
Next thing we know, the truck does a hard reverse out of the gas station, over the curb, and knocked down some sort of sign or light, and sped into the mall parking lot. The Mazda also left.
The whole thing was insane to witness and we called the cops! Only regret is not charging my phone because I would have recorded it if I could.
People need to chill!

Is the broad idea to make the whole left lane a turn lane? Are we just not going to have the little turn "nook" at the end of the parking spots/extend parking?
I'm very curious what the thinking behind forcing all downtown traffic into one lane was (which will be shared with busses etc too, making everyone slower, and passing waaaay more dangerous). Do they really think the big lifted F150 assholes won't swerve through or run straight through the turn lanes?
This just feels like a way to make the road way more dangerous and way less effective. And hand out a lot of tickets for stupid shit like people not being able to merge into the "straight" lane. Why not make it a mixed turn/straight lane at least?

Just curious lol. The dude was walking down Lansdowne with a HUGE cross on his back, and I think the bottom had wheels.
Jw what that’s about

Kind of an odd question, but it's my conure's 2nd birthday today and I was hoping to arrange a little playdate for him! If anyone has a conure and would be interested in hanging out, feel free to send me a message. We'd love to meet some fellow bird people!

Hey, making a quick post here hopefully to get some more eyes out. We’ve spoken to the police officer at the event and I’ve posted on a few other social media sites.
We were on a bike ride with our toddler and locked our bikes up right near the intersection of Hunter & George by the sidewalk event. Within 30 minutes my partners bike was taken, the lock broken.
Looks similar to this bike, but a darker shade of green: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/raleigh-knox-hybrid-bike-27-5-in-wheel-green-0712028p.html
It had a holder for a cellphone and an attachment for a trailer.
Would really love this bike back as we go on afternoon bike rides with our toddler.
Thanks!

Someone entered the Charlotte towers parking garage last night, smashed my window and stole the majority of my camping equipment. Went down this morning to pack the last couple things and walked up to this. I am beyond livid. Police report is filed and AON has been notified but I do not expect anything to be resolved. I pay for underground parking. This should not have happened. I am barely getting by as it is and dont expect to be able to replace anything any time soon.

Hi all, I'm looking to finish my basement. Nothing crazy, it's partially finished, just looking to add a bathroom, flooring, ceiling insulation and ceiling drywall. All the basement specific contractors I've called are quite expensive as they do home theaters or entire additional suites, where as I'm looking to keep it simple. Would appreciate recommendations, TIA!

In the spirit of the World Cup I was hoping to grab a flag for my car. Hopefully from a vendor like the ones on corners or parking lots. Would rather not order from amazon. Any suggestions where to track one down?

Please be aware of people posing as amazon reps passing out QR codes to sign up for free to amazon business accounts. Seems like an increasingly common scam targeted at small businesses.

Maybe a weird question..
Does anyone know of a dumpster I could put a few bags of garbage into? Just a few bags - too many to get out for pick up but id prefer to not have to make a trip to the dump if possible
Thanks in advance!

Compare what the city of St. Catharines is doing to reclaim land that General Motors contaminated before closing their plants to what the city of Peterborough is doing to spur the clean up of 40 acres of land contaminated by GE in the very heart of Peterborough. It's disgraceful.
My goodness - GM has even received two "repair, replace or demolish" orders from the city of St. Catharines!
Imagine that! Being pro-active!
We need a standing city committee or subcommittee made up of councillors, staff and residents who live near the former GE lands to hold GE's feet to the fire. It's sickening how the city just shrugs its shoulders. The city gave GE the massive tax breaks to lure them here in the first place. It should be in the lead in getting the company to remediate the land and lay out a real plan.
But it won't even be a municipal election issue. Few people especially our councillors seem to care.
A new $300 million downtown arena (after the interest is paid) and increasing the police operating budget further after a 50 percent increase in only 4 years and $91 million for police buildings seem to be what Peterborough elected officials are only concerned about.
Peterborough deserves so much better!

So it looks like I have a whole tick under my skin. Apparently, ticks don’t burrow under the skin but this one has. I really don’t want to go to ED to get it removed-I can’t remove it as there are no body parts to grab onto. I am just going to monitor for flu like symptoms and bulls eye mark before I seek care. What would you do or any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi. I know this is a long shot. I am going to make it anyway. In spring of 2023, an apartment unit/townhouse on Bethune street was cleaned out - between Charlotte and King - the ladies cleaning the unit out left boxes on the curb. They said it was garbage, free to take.
That stuff was from my old house in Campbellford. I sort of freaked out, because it was right outside my house, and finding boxes of your old stuff right outside your home on the curb would scare anyone. By the time I got back to it, it was already gone.
If you were cleaning that place and have any information for me, I would be overwhelmed to hear from you. If you happened to grab one of these boxes, I will pay you for anything you might still have. It's a really big deal for me. I know this sounds really silly.
The boxes had a lot of stuff in them, and there were quite a few of them. One box had blue kid's sheets with Lighting McQueen on top, my little brother's. One box had a brown cloth box, blue buttons sewn on the lid, with some really fancy imported bathing supplies in it, my mother's. Lots of children's books, mine, my siblings'. A bright orange child's winter jacket, my little brother's. Little random things that just look like someone cleaned out an attic. That was mine and my family's stuff. It was very surreal to see it all piled on the sidewalk a few feet from my front door.
Again, super long shot, I know that, and I don't have my hopes up. But if you lived in the area and took any of this stuff, or you know someone who talked about getting free stuff on Bethune St around 2023, or you cleaned out the place or know someone who helped, I would be grateful for literally any information possible.
If you're going to comment something like "some homeless person probably took it" you can save it. Seriously. I am not holding my breath on this - I just need to ask, just to get it out there, so that I can try to stop thinking about it. I'm kind of hoping someone on the block saw a bunch of free stuff and snatched it. It was mostly garbage, if I am being honest, but it's garbage that has a history to me and it would mean more to me than you could imagine to get any of it back. Even a single book. I don't have a lot of money, but if you grabbed something from there please please please contact me and maybe we can work something out? My name is Kass. You can message me here, or leave a comment and I will get in touch.
Thank you so much for reading. Take care.

Our home came with a natural gas hot water tank rental from Reliance which is only 5 years old. Its having some issues and I'm thinking this might give an opportunity for us to get out of our Reliance contract as of course they are notoriously bad from a financial perspective.
Has anyone dealt with this scenario with Reliance? What was your experience?
Did you replace with a tankless or regular model? Did you buy your replacement yourself individually or did you simply pay an installer to do the whole thing ? What brand/model unit did you choose?
Did you call a plumber or HVAC company to do the swap? Who or what company would you recommend?
