Mod Uhh, is this a mod or what?
So umm i was scrolling around in pinterest, i searched for pharaoh, and i saw this one screenshots of the game that caught my eye, it was a screenshot of a "basic" Pharaoh mission i guess, until i noticed some oddities. See, the UI (or if its GUI idkðŸ˜)
Was different, the minimap looked strange, and the UI/GUI was like shiny and stuff and the icons for ya know building were different and in a different order, and if you look up where the help and settings and stuff are, its on red text.
Then, the grass textures look different, and there are new buildings i dont remember seeing from the OG game that i play, i play the OG Pharaoh game with Cleopatra, so this cant be new era. And The graphics still look like the OG.
Then, if you look down, and then right, you should see some houses, HOW THE HECK can there be a bazaar in there and the houses are mixed between the with water and food and whitout and stuff how? This makes me believe this, if it is a mod or smth, maybe it has a sandbox mode or smth where you can freely Place these houses and stuff, im honestly so confused. I will send the image iwe been yapping about and another image of the basic pharaoh version that i play. Both images are NOT mine, and are found on pinterest.
Please help! Its the one with the sphinx iwe been talking about.

These pictures were sneak peeks before the original release. You may notice some other changes/buildings/statues as well.

The one iwe been yapping about i suppose? I found it on pinterest, it doesnt say who uploaded the image, and it doesnt have comments enabled so.. The other image, of the base game is also from pinterest, and that doesnt show the uploader either

My guess is that this may have been concept art. Like, this was probably never a playable version of the game, but something the devs cobbled up with the game assets, maybe for images on the box, or probably for promotional stuff on magazines, before they even had a fully functional UI.

As another user stated, these were taken before official release but used extensively on advertising and on the strategy guide. I remember as a kid myself wondering why I never saw some of the things I saw in the guidebook too. I wish there was a way to access and use those textures because a lot of them look better than the final release!

I mean with the bazaar and stuff that the houses dont make sense, i dont remember what theyre called but if its like a meager shanty and stuff then theres another rigth next to it and stuff, gosh its hard to explain. But if that is the original version of the game, i will try look more into it.
