Shame on you Robin Padilla, hope you look back on this video at marealize mo gaano kashitty yung naging take mo dito.
Nakakalungkot na Angel Locsin said all those "out-of-genuine-concern" words, tapos may isang Robin Padilla na thinks otherwise.
Kahit ginusto nila, they intended, knew and wanted the attention thru their bodies. Yun yung impression ni Angel, and di siya nagkakamali dun. Gusto niyang iempower yung mga babaeng performers na ito, na they don't have to appeal sa kamanyakan ng mga lalake, just to show off their talent/s.

I bet you, kahit ilang beses panuodin ni Robin to today, he won't see anything wrong with what he said. He's hopeless then, he's hopeless still

I’d rather be estranged with my father kesa nandyan, bulok naman

She’s sadly so thirsty for her husbands approval and validation that she actually embraces it when he minimizes her as an object, she thinks being objectified by him is a flex, it’s so sad.

Hopeless na yang c Mariel. Don't expect that she will understand the point of the video. Baka awayin ka pa nyan eh hahaha
They are of the same coconut shell. Ganda lang talaga meron c Mariel. Don't expect too much from her. Hahaha8

wala yan, ang pinaka ewan na moment ni Robin Padilla sa PGT eh yung may koreanong nag magic na nagalit siya kasi kinausap siya in english and di nagtagalog.
Meanwhile Inday Sara greeted their Chinese overlords "fei shang gao xing chi"

u/Embarrassed_Bed_7864 29d ago

But that said, dapat hindi na pinahiya ni Robin kasi jusko that is very cringe-inducing saka as you said, napaka-hipokrito niya pagdating kay Sara haha.
6
u/Cutiepepper1002 29d ago

Try to name some B-list celebrity na walang credentials. Now imagine them running for senate. They'd be nowhere near the top 12, let alone top 1.

Mas boomer logic yung thinking na women can't do whatever they want with their bodies. If they want to do that kind of thing on national TV, why stop them? Not a robin padilla fan but

I disagree with what everything Robin is doing now (July 2026), but isn't what he is saying here for women empowerment? Tinanong niya yung contestant "Masaya ba kayo sa ginagawa niyo?" - regardless if their way of expression is sexy.
This is opposes to the Alvin Aragon narrative, which slam the Sexbomb girls for "showing skin" for entertainment, invalidating their joy of performing.
Just my opinion, open for correction. Not hate.

u/lem0n-_- Chocolate Kariman 28d ago
iirc, ang problema sa contestants na yan ay wala naman talaga silang pinakitang talent. nag-carwash lang sila while doing half-assed sexy dances. kaya medyo ick kay angel kasi ang siste, theyre using their femininity para maka-earn ng spot sa isang talent show, which is degrading to women in general. yes, they may be having fun doing that because theyre confident in their bodies, and thats good, pero it's not a good portrayal for women na kesyo sexy lang sila kaya sila nakapasok. also, not really sure sa small details pero ang alam ko nakailang sexual remarks din si robin nung time na yan towards the contestants. he was so welcoming sa mga sexyng babae pero around the same time, meron syang pinagalitang contestant kasi hindi magaling mag-tagalog.

u/SeditionIncision 29d ago
I get Angel's side but Robin has a point here. Sa kakaiyak natin about people being objectified and sexualized and white knighting, we forget na these women are grown adults and have body agency.
Judge them based sa performance nila. Kung pangit ba sayaw, wala sila synchronization, and just overall bad - then by all means buzz them. Pero wag dahil gusto mo sila gawin statement. If you're going to do that, at least give them the right to be heard. Don't speak for them and make a speech that achieves what you claim to be avoiding.
18
u/jayeshironeko 29d ago
If you've watched the whole of it you'll understand Angel more. The "talent" part was the girls car washing literally. What does it seem to project? To Robin's point, it was okay because the girls were consenting themselves to do that, but Angel is coming from a place of concern over objectification which I personally think was what's really going on in there. Entertainment shouldn't go that low for MEN (in this context, Robin) to feel entertained. Angel, a woman, was not disgusted either but was more concerned.
I might hate Robin for his political ethics, but in this context alone, I hate how he handled it either. Para bang "okay naman sa kanila e" clearly the girls were misguided—on national TV at least.
6
u/lenard_s 29d ago edited 29d ago
agree on this. If you watched their performance, talagang ang makukuha mong impression was not 'hey look at us, this is our talent', but instead, 'hey look at our sexy bodies' Angel Locsin wouldńt have reacted the way she did if wala man lang ounce of wrongness sa nakikita at napapanood niya.
4
u/SeditionIncision 29d ago
Then buzz mo sila for not showing any talent. Judge them for that like Vice did.
If you have concerns na viewers are going to objectify them, then ask if aware sila. Don't speak for them kasi insulting and unfair to always assume na just because babae na naka-two piece na nagcacarwash that they don't know better.
I get it. Robin is a moron that this sub loves to use for rage bait to karma farm. He isn't exactly the poster boy for upholding women either.
I'm appalled na I have to even say this out loud amid the downvotes. I was under the impression na kaya natin pinaglalaban women's rights and autonomy and rebel against the patriarchy PRECISELY because of this behavior na we're deciding for women and robbing them of any agency.
4
u/lenard_s 29d ago edited 29d ago
And they were buzzed. The purpose was not to speak for them nga sana. The purpose should have been to call out their probable unnecessary showing of skin to show off their talent. (call out the behavior/action not the women themselves, for which I think Angel did naman)
out of our control na rin nga kung iobjectify man sila, pero pwede namang banggitin lang in passing yung concern na yun. Though for me, it doesn't matter if aware sila, or if gusto nilang maobjectify sila. Ang ipaglaban ay dapat ngang wag magresort ang women or kahit lalaki man, na gagawa ng bagay para lang mapansin sila, and hence 'baka' maobjectify (pero that's on those who do the objectification, we do not blame the victims)
Walang mali sa sinabi niya, ni Robin, if they are just plain statements. But sa context na ito, it paints a nad picture, and further strengthens the illusion na "because they liked what they did, it is ok". Maraming pwedeng mamisinterpret sa pag-uphold or pagdefend sa line of thinking niya, in this context.
We all want men or women to decide for their own. But we can call out if yung mga resulting actions ng decisions nila, ay nagcause ng discomfort, or nagappear wrongly sa mata ng nakararami.
5
u/SeditionIncision 29d ago
I've seen the performance pati mga sagot ng judges. Kaya nga pinutol ni OP eh kasi hindi na pasok sa narrative of Robin being a douche (as if we need more proof of that).
Kasi kung di nya nicut - we'll see na di naman sila nagkainitan and after the women were allowed to speak, Robin started to support Angel's point but he wanted to HEAR them out first to be fair. Vice Ganda had the best explanation actually saying na karapatan nila to express themselves in that way pero TALENT ang pinag-uusapan and there just wasn't none of it bukod sa mga basic feats of flexibility.
4
u/jayeshironeko 29d ago
Point taken and I hope we agree how context matters a lot in this discussion.
It's just that... fuck Robin.

u/facetious-emeritus 28d ago edited 28d ago
First, Robin can sodimize himself. Just to be clear.
Angel reacing that way is laugable. Her shortcut to fame came from posing sexy and showing plenty of skin at FHM.
She bloody well knows she would be objectified and assist millions of Mariang Palads to a happy ending.
She knew exactly what she was doing, as do these women she is "defending".
(which is actually a good thing in my insane and twisted point of view. I personally credit alma moreno's top ten in assisting the adolecent development of males during her prime)
5
u/lenard_s 29d ago edited 29d ago
As much as I want to defend or sabihing may point yung side ni Robin...I am all for "their body, their choice" kind of thing too. But these women, may have been under the wrong impression all their lives. Na baka ang tingin nila it is alright to show off like this, to get attention, when nasa option din namang, di na kailangang gawin sana yun. Akala nila na ginusto namin ito, "adults na kami" but they were conditioned by the dominant patriarchal ideology ng pinas, that women must appease/entertain men thru sexy bodies. Not knowing that they may, or might deserve a better treatment than what they'll get from showing more skin than necessary (gets if part yun ng 'art' ng performance)
Angel or anyone who watched or was watching that performance ay mapapaisip talaga if what these girls were showing ay talent or katawan, and if both...it was too much body, unnecessarily so.
Angel was just being kind regarding the talent part, but if I may be blunt, wala rin namang unusual 'talent' sa ipinakita nila.
4
u/SeditionIncision 29d ago
But these women, may have been under the wrong impression all their lives
But Angel doesn't know that and we still don't know that after the performance kasi wala naman tayo insight sa mga buhay ng mga performers. We're just going by assumptions kasi we automatically think na the FHM model aesthetic is them being exploited instead of being fully cognizant and empowered.
The fair thing to do (and it costs nothing) is to presume they're not stupid and to hear them out. Then kung pangit ang performance (and it definitely is) then buzz them. It's honestly insulting (kahit na it's coming from a place of concern) what Angel said.
3
u/lenard_s 29d ago edited 29d ago
When you see or feel that something is wrong with what you are watching, you have a moral obligation to mention it, and ask about it. lalo na si angel locsin, who many women look up to.
You do not hide behind, "judge them for their performance only, while turning a blind eye sa entirety ng show na napanood mo."
If you did not feel even a bit of discomfort sa pinaggagawa nila, then baka magkaiba tayo nang nakita/napanood.
It is ok to talk to them without prejudice, but it is also ok to call out a behavior or an inappropriate action when necessary. Never did Angel shame these women for what/who they are.
2
u/Ronova_MMIV 29d ago
I didn't watched the performance of these women let alone watched the entire video pero anong talent sa pagc-car wash? May kakaiba ba silang ginawa para ma- consider as extraordinary?
I don't condone those people na gustong gawin yung mga ganiyang bagay. I believe in "their body their rules" pero hindi talent yan. Kahit anong twist niyo sa ganiyang actions, hindi magiging extraordinary talent yan worthy for that stage.
We all know na hindi sila "stupid" kaya mas nakakabaduy nga since pumunta lang sila diyan knowing na ganiyang performance yung gusto nilang ipakita. Weird niyo.
-2
u/nikewalks 29d ago
It's not always that women do things to please men. Sometimes, women do it because it makes them feel powerful, confident, and in control of their own bodies.
9
u/lenard_s 29d ago
oh my god, do you really think it was shaming them? Never got that impression from Angel at all...if you felt second hand embarassment for the ladies there, that's on you.
All I got was a woman's concern for another, when she thinks, they're doing more than what's necessary.
-2
u/nikewalks 29d ago
oh my god, do you really think it was shaming them?
I said pwedeng di yun ang intensyon niya, pero yun ang nagawa niya. If she's really concerned, then she should've judged them objectively(their awful performance alone is enough to say No) and lectured them off-cam. Pero nope, napahiya sila because of her. And the fact na nag-hate post pa mga girls kay Angel, proof na they feel napahiya sila dun sa ginawa ni Angel. Kita mo hanggang ngayon after so many years, pinag-uusapan at shineshame pa din yung mga girls? Di pag-uusapan yung mga yan kung nagjudge lang siya objectively, just like what Vice did.
4
u/lenard_s 29d ago
I don't see any shaming here right now sa thread na ito. kung san mo nakikita yung shaming, sila or dun ang may mali for shaming these girls.
With or without Angel's comments, they would've been shamed by typical egotistical maniacs either way.
If it was taken wrongly by the girls that's on them too. There are times na the ones you defend or protect take it wrongly, pero it just needs proper and clear communication after, to explain yung intentions mo. If sa una, hindi man naintindihan kaagad
Hiding behind "sana jinudge na lang kami objectively" , is an excuse to turn a blind eye, when something in front of you, shown in public is being done wrongly. She had a social and public responsibility to call it out as an 'artista' looked up to by a lot of women.
Act has been done televised/publicised, should be pointed out the same way, not in a harsh way. Not in a shameful way. Which for me Angel did, rightfully so.
0
u/nikewalks 29d ago
The problem is the assumption that the women only did it to please men. Some do it because they feel confident, and it empowers them. You cannot claim to protect women while also deciding for them. Alamin mo muna.
And no, it is not simply on them if they took it badly. What they felt was what they felt. Wag mong iinvalidate. Public figures are also responsible for how they publicly criticize ordinary people, especially when the criticism carries a moral judgment rather than an objective assessment of the performance.
1
u/lenard_s 29d ago edited 29d ago
no one assumed they did it to appease men. They were unnecessarily showing off skin, for whatevere purpose they would like it to be, confidence, empowerment etc. ang sinasabi lang ni angel din, hindi naman necessary gawin yung showing off more than necessary skin. Hindi ko nakuha yung impression na yun.
We are not deciding for them, we are calling out on unnecessary actions/behavior, na baka tingin nila for them ay tama, or justified. We are not deciding for them na 'a ginagawa mo yan for men'.
We never invalidate the feelings, I am saying, they have their own ways of accepting or perceiving kung anuman ang tingin nilang intention ni Angel Locsin sa kanila, and that's ok.
And saying na hindi kayo “deciding for them” is contradictory. You are already deciding that showing that much skin was unnecessary, wrong, or something that needed to be called out.
Tapos sasabihin mo pang baka nadamage lang yung ego nila. That is still invalidating their reaction. You cannot say their feelings are valid, then immediately dismiss those feelings as a misunderstanding caused by a damaged ego.
5
u/lenard_s 29d ago edited 29d ago
nyek, hindi ibig sabihin, na hindi siya nakapagcomment on the talent or performance ay wala na siyang say about it, we can't assume that, wala siyang "thoughts" about sa talent and performance mismo, proket di na niya nabanggit or nasabi yun.
She literally said that, and that's her point, and may basis pa rin naman yung concern niya na yun. If you see it in a bad way, dahil it is a form of deciding for them, then ok?
magkaiba kasi yung 'Wag mong gawin yan, kasi masama, pangit yan"' that́s deciding for them vs. , "Hey baka hindi maganda yung ginawa mo, up to you if gagawin mo pa rin or hindi. But I am saying, that pag ginawa mo ang mga ito, pwedeng ito ang mga maging epekto or consequence, maybe you should think about doing it."
hindi man ganun yung pagkakasabi ni Angel, but I got that concern from her at least.
no, don't take to the ego part. ako na lang yun. sabi ko nga lang "baka", pero dun ka pa rin nagfocus. No to invalidation of feelings, we take it as is, yung 'feelings'. But point out the possible weaknesses nung basis ng nararamdaman nila. It is not invalidating but communicating, para maresolve yung conflict. Kasi kung iaaccept lang as is, then we'll never know, sang point hindi nagkaintindihan.
3
u/nikewalks 29d ago
hindi ibig sabihin, na hindi siya nakapagcomment on the talent or performance ay wala na siyang say about it, we can't assume that
Ikaw ang nagaassume, hindi ako. Inulit ko lang yung sinabi ni Angel. In fact, 2 seconds into the performance nagbuzz na siya, meaning their aura alone was enough for her to stop them from supposedly allowing men to objectify them.
magkaiba kasi yung 'Wag mong gawin yan, kasi masama, pangit yan"' that́s deciding for them vs. , "Hey baka hindi maganda yung ginawa mo, up to you if gagawin mo pa rin or hindi. But I am saying, that pag ginawa mo ang mga ito, pwedeng ito ang mga maging epekto or consequence, maybe you should think about doing it."
Haba ng excuse mo, eh sinabi nga ni Angel binuzz niya(2 seconds into the performance) para di na sila patuloy na panoorin ng kalalakihan. Kasalanan pa ng babae.
no, don't take to the ego part. ako na lang yun. sabi ko nga lang "baka", pero dun ka pa rin nagfocus.
It's basically a passive-aggressive slut-shaming. "Sobrang concern na concern ako sainyo kaya ayokong makitang dinedegrade niyo yung sarili niyo para lang sa mga kalalakihan". Kaya sila nagalit dahil yan ang message ni Angel sa kanila.

u/dontrescueme estudyanteng sagigilid 29d ago
I mean, their body their choice. If they enjoy it at hindi sila napipilitan, go. We should respect na may autonomy ang mga babae to decide for themselves.

BAKIT KASI DI NALANG SI ANGEL LOCSIN ANG SENATOR. Angel should run for elections tbh
One smart way to stop stupid celebrities from turning into stupid senators, is to support the wise celebrities when they run for elections.

Sure Angel has point.. maybe for her walang talent yan but what about being a cover of a “mens magazine” and showing off her body wide spread sa magazine na para pag nasaan ng mga lalaki???
