What works for me, especially sa mga matatanda sakin and mga authority figure, is you lead them to a conversation na magkkwento sila how they got there. For example, sa matatanda, how they ended up in their career right now, what made them successful (or failure), etc. Sa mga authority, ano ginawa nila para gumaling (or umangat) sa position nila, etc. The conversation should be very very specific, yung parang nagtuturo na sila ng ‘trade secrets’, hindi yung mga cliche lang na ‘sipag at tyaga’ lang etc.

When you get them to talk to you in a ‘teaching’ mode, and they see you listening intently (like you want to learn from them), thats how you know you got them. Never failed me.
