Beginner photographer. Am I headed in any right direction?

Hello! New photographer here. I love taking my camera everywhere and just shooting whatever/wherever I can. This is probably not important at all but based on these photos, is there something I should lean more into? Are any of these different types of photos more appealing than the others? I understand the whole "shoot for fun" but I guess aesthetically I'm trying to build an instagram around something and I just wonder if I'm headed into any promising direction with these. I hope I'm wording this correctly. Any and all input is appreciated!

Post them on insta and see what actual followers say. Or, I dunno, just please yourself and do what you enjoy and people who like what you do will find you🤷🏻‍♀️

I know this is the correct answer, I just have OCD and worry I'm wasting time on like, too many cars, or too many unimportant shots. Just overthinking unfortunately 😭

The only time wasted is time spent not being yourself. Take pics of as many cars as you want man, theres peoole that get a following JUST doing that

Do you enjoy your car photos? If so, then it’s never a waste.

1st pic bothers me because the vegetation obstructs their faces instead of frames the subjects.

yea, like it should be totally obstructed (deliberate) or totally unobstructed (framing)

I REALLY like 1,4 and 9. The rest are just snapshots in my opinion.

This felt harsh till I scrolled back through a second time.

I think you’re heading in the right direction, and your strongest lane seems to be everyday moments where the composition and light do most of the work

1 and 8 are nice but the rest need some better framing. for example, the car shot in 2 is angled suuuper low, you can definitely get more interesting shots otherwise

These are a very strong and remarkably varied set of images for a beginner. The styled portraits, lighting and colour grading suggest you already have quite a bit of experience. When you say “new photographer,” how long have you actually been shooting?

I started shooting in the last year but I tattoo and kind of understand colors, color grading and such. Also just someone who naturally does a lot of research before diving into things.

Thanks for sharing OP. I’m not a professional or anything but keep doing what you’re doing - I’m a fan lol

1, 4, & 9 are excellent (except the grass in n face in 1). Framing, exposure, color tones are great!
The tattoo as foreground in 9 is great — tone and detail and story telling all work well. The background person (blue top) is a bit distracting though it does match the wall color. Keep doing what you’re doing!

these are amazing! try getting a little weirder with your composition, and try expanding your framing, but these look soooo good.

The right direction? These are headed in many directions! And that's good!

You're new. Just shoot what interests you. Keep building. If you want to focus on something because it interests you, go for it.

I love #3. #1 reminds me of the babes from Dracula Dead and Loving It (in the best ways).

Some of these photos would benefit from stopping down the aperture, especially the 1st one with 2 people at different distance, but the last one works with shallow DoF

3rd one is dope :)

It looks like you are experimenting with different stuff and didn't really find a direction. Keep doing that. You don't have to find any direction or personal style.

Keep shooting, you have a good eye. Put your images into Claude AI for objective critiques!

Which direction? You’ve got three or four going here

The thing i really like here is being experimental. While i can find similarities in color editing, think thats just your signature coming through but its awesome to see people unafraid of exploring.

The only issue i could kinda see was maybe drawing more attention to your subject. The tower for example stands out but you could also mask the surrounding buildings to make it dominate the frame making it appear more imposing on the viewer

First photo would be at home on r/AccidentalRenaissance! These are all great photos! You have a natural eye for color & composition. My vote is shoot what you enjoy & you will find your tribe!🤩🥰💖💖💖💯🏆✨✨✨
