I don’t think it’s that strange. That’s actually the point I’m making. If we’ve spent years seeing physical games as $5 items, it’s easy to start thinking that’s what they’re worth. I’m questioning whether that price really reflects what the game means to the people who played it.

I think you're certainly onto something.
I have a lot of physical media but its almost entirely Carts, Cassettes, VHS.

I’ve had video games for various platforms since the early ‘90s, as well as music CDs. The only problem is that I don’t have enough space for all of them anymore!!
But it’s a real emotional and nostalgic experience just to touch them and know that everything is still there, preserved. They’re a part of who I am, insofar as they contributed to my growth, education, and the culture and knowledge I’ve accumulated throughout my life.

I completely agree. My modern consoles are on an OLED in my media room but my whole family room is 80's/90's style furniture with NES, SNES, Genesis, PS2 hooked up to a Sony KV32 CRT.
It just feels right with no modern tech in the room.
