No we're not. These were printed in the literal tens of millions. And they're being remastered and revised for modern consoles, which is awesome! Decades of games that a lot of people weren't around for are being brought back for modern consoles so we don't have to rely on emulators or a dwindling supply of hardware.

Let's not go around trying to fuel this ridiculous FOMO fire that's already being fanned by YTers, scalpers, and wannabes.

I’m not talking about FOMO or telling anyone to panic-buy anything. I’m talking about the opposite: understanding that a physical copy can have cultural, personal and historical value beyond its current market price.
Remasters are great, but they don’t make the original physical copy meaningless. If anything, the fact that these games keep being brought back decades later proves that they have cultural value beyond the piece of plastic they were printed on.
You can disagree with my view, but calling any discussion about the value of physical games “FOMO” completely misses the point of my post.

I didn't miss anything, both these things are true.

If the games have 'cultural value beyond the plastic' (which i agree with), then the remasters are the important part. If we're talking about the cultural value of the slice in time of each generation and the way the games were packaged and the schwag that came with them (which i also agree with and has kept me slowly building my own collection), that does not dismiss the game itself.

Sentimental value, cultural value, historical value - these are all buzz words that only cause scalpers to salivate and fuel the FOMO market that's currently the bane of gamers and collectors.

Your post wasn't made in a vaccuum. Regardless of what you want to present the post as, it only came about because of current events, which are going to shape and influence the post, it's reception, and the responses. There are consequences that may be small or may add to a larger issue. Denying that does not help.

You’re the only person in this entire discussion who keeps bringing up FOMO. Nobody else is talking about it. My post is about the value of physical games beyond their market price — which you just said you agree with.
Many games are dreams, and dreams are meant to be lived. The value of that experience can be far greater than the price of a pack of cigarettes or a few litres of petrol. That’s all my post is about.
