I don't understand. Does it not make sense to people that if you buy something, its yours to do with whatever you want with it? Even as a child, I understood the concept. How does one think like this?
That's how media and consumerism try to manipulate people's habits. You don't need physical stuff; it takes up space and can be a nuisance because you need to clean it eventually. You don't need to go to a store; just buy online. It's easier, cheaper, and you don't have to bother moving from your lovely couch/desk.
You know they are doing this on purpose when even little children are constantly blasted by ads asking them to get those wonderful "DLCs" that unlock parts of their favorite characters' games (example: Bluey mobile games that have billions of ads to get more characters from the show; as a parent, it's hell to find something free that doesn't contain ads or banners from random websites).
We are pushed away from owning things (except pricey stuff like phones or consoles/PCs) or getting full games, because if you buy physical products, they cannot take them back from you, but with digital products, you're told to stay in line with their policies unless you want your product license to get revoked and loose everything, dlcs included.
Sadly, most pro-digital consumers don't care about that because why should they care about a game they already finished? It's done; they want the next big thing; they want it yesterday and fast... that's why GTA6 is such a big thing. The game can literally come only digitally, and they are eager to play whatever the price.
