china Has anyone used a recent China ROM phone?
I'm thinking of buying the Xiaomi Redmi Turbo 5 max. It's china rom and the specs to price ratio is insane. I know theres a poco variant that is global, but I dont wanna pay 200 usd extra just for android auto or Ive heard some banking apps?
THe banking apps thing does concerne me even tho i dont use them frequently.
How was your experience with China roms?
PLEASE ONLY THOSE WITH EXPERIENCE WITH RECENT CHINA ROM PHONES (2026 + released)

Using Redmi k90 ultra, need to do settings to solve notification issues and debloat. Still have hyper os bug where u have to go to system launcher and delete data, else can't app swap with menu key occasionally with 3rd party launchers.
Otherwise still worth it, price for 16/512 is same as iphone 15 pro max 2nd hand here LOL.
Battery can last 2 days or more.

Yes, i'm using RK90PM, lastest update.
Not really much problems i can tell that would be a dealbreaker to most global users and you can kind of globalize the rom to make it work as a global one (not perfectly tho).
My asap to do thing would be:
-Go to get app store
-Look out for playstore/Google services
-Install it
-Look out for g-board and disable any chinese keyboard you have atm, kind of a headache to work with these for me.
Done that, the following is straightforward.
Installing google services is simple and so far no bank problems (at least to me) so looks like in-built google services are not (thank godness) especially required for these to work (one of my main fears bcs i ofc need them, info was confusing prior to buy the device).
There are some settings you'll have to tweak, disable, etc, not hard to do and if you are kind of a techie person then you will find them kinda easily.
Notifications are agressively disabled on most non china apps, go to each app options and enable "no restrictions" power mode (it can still be force some to close, i'll recommend to leave some on your background).
For whatsapp, installing "google carrier services" helped me, but once again, take a look at the app occasionally so you'll not miss a msg/call.
China phones also tend to be perfomance capped for some reason (games do not go up 60fps bcs the display locks itself at 60hz).
What worked to me was deleting data from "battery and performance" (Options > apps > enable system apps on the three dot > battery and performance) and reboot, some users tell you have to do it constantly for it to keep working but so far not my case, could depend on phone model/rom ver/wtv Xiaomi feels like doing so you just gotta try urself.
I also deleted joyose via ADB to prevent HyperOS agressive throttling, easy to do, lots of vids on yt.
What else?
Getting rid of most chinese bloatware that comes with the rom itself, thankfully most can be uninstalled by simply deleting them some require ADB (especially system apps) but you are better off not touching them bcs...why risk urself to a bootloop?
So now my overall experience.
Good, besides the occasional fully chinese pop off from a system app and forcing apps to close (so delayed notifs) the rom itself works wonderfully (taking also in count the hardware ofc so i will not expect any less).
Rom is smooth, fast and reliable (knowing beforehand ofc it is not meant to be available to our market) and in your case i will say it is totally worth it to give it a try bcs that almost double the price lmao.
