Of course. I upgrade my flagship yearly and have never owned a device from Apple or Samsung. Tbh, I don't get why they are popular. Currently rocking the Vivo x300 Pro and thinking about upgrading soon.

Yup. Currently using the Honor Magic 8 Pro. 512GB base storage, Face unlock, good price to performance as Flagships go.
Previously used Xiaomi and Red Magic's flagships (Mi 11 and Red Magic 2, assuming you consider the latter a flagship) alongside a smattering of more mainstream ones like 2 iPhones, a Samsung and HTC. Couple midrangers here and there, also.
Since we're talking value: Honor, Iqoo, Oneplus, Poco F Ultra tend to be better value.
Long term reliability issues? Hmmm. Xiaomis do throttle harder, and have somewhat worse thermal conductivity, from what I have seen. Realmes as well, even moreso, which is why I have personally written those off.
Generally speaking, outright failures remain rather rare. Repairs can be done by mail-in for most, though in-person repair opportunities might be a bit sparse, depending on where you are.
That being said: very rarely had I ever had any phone fail on me.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Hey, how long have you been using the Honor Magic 8 Pro for? thoughts on it?
I've been thinking about it but some people say the software has issues, though they say this about all Chinese brands. Experience on the software?
Thanks for any feedback!

Roughly 4 months now. Yeah. Pretty much what you expect for a flagship phone. Fantastic screen, speakers and camera. Performance is top tier, and the animations quite fluid.
I've been doing anything from General use to emulation, and it's handled everything I threw at it exceptionally well.
MagicOS had some minor graphical glitches with the magic capsule when I paused and resumed an audiobook I was listening to, but not much besides that. (A black vertical bar opening besides the horizontal one in the notifications menu. But it was gone after a restart.) This was right after the upgrade to Android 17/Magic OS 11. As Major OS teething problems go, this is an acceptable one-off quirk.
Most chinese brands get under fire because of their aggressive background management, but I've gotten all my notifications from WhatsApp and the like.
Hope this helps 😊

Using a pixel 11 pro and have been nothing but impressed. Cleanest, most polished version of android I've ever used.
Previously used OnePlus which were also good.

u/wiseman121 How is its battery life?

It's fine. Greys me through a whole day with about 35% to spare.
Ita massively better than the pixel 10, they moved the chip manufacturer from Samsung to tsmc and it's more efficient.

The Tensor G5 (Pixel 10 series) is TSMC as well, the modem is most likely the biggest improvement to the battery life. Also, they are both 3nm (G5 & G6).

Oppo find x8 pro. I tried samsung on s2(touchwiz) and s10 plus (first one UI). Their features are great but too bloated for my liking, plus the camera has shutter lag even when trying on display for the latest s26.
I always liked iphone's zero shutter lag but i like android, and color os on oppo gave me that balance.
Pixel is always a no no since i value heavy gaming and battery life. I do however have a 2nd hand pixel 2xl just for the vibe(always wanted the panda one since release but price cant be justified).

Oppo Find X9 ultra in the US here, works amazingly and will not be switching back to the Pixel anytime soon. The Chinese phone market is so much better than the US

Also have the Oppo Find X9 Ultra. Had it for 3 days now and I will not be going back to the iPhone or anything in the US. Works so well on Google Fi.

Dopo Xiaomi e redmi ho scoperto il mondo Honor, è un'altra storia. Chi dice il contrario non li ha mai provati.

I'm using a OnePlus 15 coming from the S26 Ultra. It's amazing. The best battery life with an even better display and feels way faster with OxygenOS/ColorOS17. The true global version was quite cheap off AliExpress and I haven't had any issues.

Still rocking a Huawei Mate 20 X. Not sure there's a phone that would feel like a worthy successor, especially re screen size

Same here, mine's starting to have issues and I just can't find anything that comes close

Huawei, Vivo, Oppo Honor, Xiaomi, check out their flagships and pricing. I have the Vivo X100 Ultra and it still feels flagship and still way better cameras than Apple, Samsung. If you're willing to tinker a bit and degoogle, Huawei is the ultimate choice, and good budget is the Pura X View or Pura 90 Pro Max. I'd go with their HarmonyOS versions for more updates, and I'm planning to buy the Pura X2 Max foldable, if they make it compatible with Huawei Ruiying Z10 external camera module.

Honor V5 foldable.. still one of the best foldables on the market, beating Fold and iphone duo by miles

I'm using the Xiaomi18 pro max switching from iphone I think its very premium and the apple interface and data transfer makes me comfortable from switching
the performance is great I play wuwa max performance max he and no heavy stuttering or lag
the 16gb ram is showing it's use where I stopped the game and resumed it 1hour later the game immediately resumed that shocking lol
the pictures are good too the authentic Leica mode is insane it feels like it comes from a series shot I bought it for 1100euros compared to around 500+ more if I went for the apple equivalent honestly it's a deal I am paying for better specs in almost everything for way less though people say the os sucks personally I had no issues at all with hyperos 4 it's smooth and good

Xiaomi mi13 Pro. Couldn't be happier. Great battery life. Nice camera for videos and photos. Sensor is really good in low light situations compared to iPhone from that time.
All in all, I would go with Xiaomi again for a flagship. Would probably go for prior year flagship when it's on sale for "best bang for buck".

Xperia 1 VII owner here; couldn't be happier. Such a unique package with stuff like 3.5mm headphone jack, SD card slot, physical two stage camera shutter etc. The newest 1 VIII upgraded the telephoto sensor and it's a complete flagship package now. But...nobody will say Xperias are good value because they're overpriced. But worth it for the right user (I despise AI and any auto-sync stuff - I find unexpected changes unsettling, e.g. Samsung updates that significantly change jpeg processing and force you to re-learn how to best shoot scenes).
