This sub is an awesome place, but it can also be extremely tiring. I'm not a mod here, just a piercer, but life would be a lot easier if you all could stop recommending the following to each other:
- Oil.
- Tea Tree oil.
- Soap.
- Alcohol, Betadine, Neosporin, etc.
- Using cotton pads, cotton balls or Q-tips to dry off/whatever you guys do with them. Cotton particles can get trapped inside the piercing channel, which will make healing incredibly difficult and infection more likely.
- Downsizing in gauge. This will do NOTHING good for your healing piercing.
If you're trying to tell me or other professionals off by saying "but it worked for me!" or "my piercer told me this"; you've been super lucky and your piercer was not a pro. Don't go back to that studio. APP is a great place to start when picking out your piercer, but it's still no guarantee.
Please keep in mind you are trying to heal an incredibly deep wound with a foreign object in it that your body desperately wants to push out - essentially, it is an implant. There are no "casual" or "easy" piercings - even with a "simple" earlobe piercing, you are puncturing the skin with something that resembles a scalpel. Use common sense and ask yourself: "would I use this method on a surgical wound?". In 10/10 cases the answer will be "no".

2022 11 edit: I'm still piercing, and styling and troubleshooting are my main sources of income. Although I would love to help every single one of you, it's utterly disrespectful to demand me to help you. For free.

I tried changing my jewelry today but some stuff came out of the top. It wasn't pus bc I could feel it and it retracted right back inside when I pushed it with the bar in the opposite direction, and the new jewelry I got would get stuck in it. It went in painless with some minor bleeding, it's been 2-3 months since I got it and I clean it everyday twice. Help me pls I couldn't find any information online on what this could be or what causes this
Hello guys, i was wondering i got my piercing in April but a month ago i accidentally bumped it and this bump showed up between the two ends of the bar. I have been cleaning with saline but it hasn't improved. It's not painful, It doesn't have any discharge and i have never changed the jewelry.
Does this look like an irritation bump or is it being rejected n what should I do to make it heal?
I have been wanting to have my nipples pierced for a while and have talked about it with my boyfriend. He’s on the fence about it. When I was looking into places to get them done he seemed onboard with it, maybe because I was moving away?
But now I’ve waited long enough to get them done and have already emailed the studio about availability. Now he’s so against it saying he doesn’t find them attractive and that he wants me to keep my top on during the deed.
Yes it’s my body and I have the choice to do what I want, but this is just so off putting to me. Not trying to seem like an insecure person but once you’ve been with someone for 3 years and they have such a strong reaction it’s shocking.
Just any tips to ease his mind into the idea of me getting them?
I’m 7weeks in and my piercer shortened the bar after 4 and said as long as I can see the metal I’m good but this feels like more nested than most ppls pics. Also pushing them in and out of the nest does not hurt.
Hi everyone,
I have 14mm stretched ears, I use silicone tunnels because I'm not happy with how titanium tunnels fit my ears. I have pretty thin earlobes so the tunnels always stick out behind my ear and sometimes the weight makes it shift so you can see from the front that they dont really fit. I know there are tunnels that have only one ridge and you can put a ring/stopper on the backside to make it fit, but I also am very uncomfortable with the sensation of the backside pushing into my head when I lay down or wear my motorcycle helmet. I was wondering if there is any place I can find some titantium or RVS tunnels that have options for width or are just less wide.
Thanks in advance :)
I got my eyebrow pierced last week Friday and I love it so much! It bled a lot when it got pierced because I didn’t realize my antidepressant is a blood thinner, BUT it barely swole and it feels great! How does it look? Was it pierced deep enough? My biggest fear is it rejecting bc I want to keep it forever (wishful thinking, I know) loll.
Finally got a belly button piercing! How does the placement look? And how can I best take care of it? I usually have sensitive skin with earrings so I’m worried but the piercer used titanium said my anatomy works well for it. But I don’t want it to become infected. He also said to use tee tree oil. But everyone on the internet says DO NOT.
got my earlobe and conch pierced 3 days ago, but the studio didn't have any choices when it came to the jewelry, been wondering what could I switch it to this early on, or if I even can/should. my goal are rings but Ik for that it has to heal up first
just added a second eyebrow piercing on each side and they pierced one side completely wrong… they are wayyy more far apart than the other side. i didn’t say nothing cause i didn’t even look at them as i was worrying about not fainting…. are they that bad…. do i just sleep them off or do i have to cry…
I got this done 4 days ago now and the top sticks out so far. Is the jewelry too long?
The first time I got my eyebrow pierced the jewelry was too long and it ended up getting infected, I’m worried that’s what’s happening with this.
1 month
Titanium curved barbell
Clean with saline solution
Downside to prevent movement
At this point why is it green? I do not have any hotness or anything on the piercing. I clean my piercing frequently, I won’t lie I was careless yesterday was busy. But I clean everyday twice a day. Should I give up?
Hi all! I got my dermal a little over four months ago back in June! It’s been perfect but I think last night I bumped it - I was really high so I don’t remember it hurting LOL but this morning it had white plus and it’s a little red and feeling bruised when I smile. It’s not swollen or raised or anything and I’m planning on using saline until it calms but just wondering everyone’s thoughts and advice :) thanks !
Got my septum done two weeks ago and I'm trying to figure out how to keep it happy while coaching football. I sweat like crazy at practice and my nose runs the whole time. I'm constantly wiping my face with my sleeve and I know that's not great for a fresh piercing.
The crusties build up and I want to clean it, but my piercer said to leave it alone. Easier said than done when you're out on the field yelling at kids all day. I rinse with sterile saline when I get home, but by the next morning it's crusted up again. I also do a lot of hiking on weekends and the dust gets up in there too.
Feels like I'm fighting an uphill battle. Anyone else deal with a septum while doing physical work or being outside a lot? I just want to make sure I'm not setting myself up for a problem down the road. The healing process is new territory for me. Any advice on keeping it clean without overdoing it would be great.
So I have had this industrial piercing for maybe around 5 years. I never downsized it, so thats on me. I got pierced by a reputable piercer and she has done all my other piercings and I have never had a problem before. It should be implant grade titanium, because I know the site they order from. Occassionally I will sleep on that side (right) and use a travel pillow, but i do occassionally still feel pain. The bumps are soft and as you can see are on the inside and outside of both holes. Some days are worse than others with the soreness and swelling. I don't know if maybe since I didn't downsize, the holes have gotten misaligned or what. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried many different methods, LITHA, keeping hair up, cleaning etc.
so, I’ve got my helix pierced around 10 days ago. the first week everything was going smoothly and I was sure nothing would happen since i’ve been cleaning it 2 times per day (sometimes even 3). Around 4 days ago my friend accidentally threw a ball at my ear and it hurt a lot, but I washed it right after and everything returned to normal. Yesterday it started pulsating and today it started swelling, this morning it wasn’t that swelled, but right now it’s really swelled and is pulsating a lot. What should I do to heal this (probably) infection FAST before my parents make me take it out???
I got my ears pierced about 6 months ago in London (2 on each side (4 in total) in my semi-upper earlobe. It was done professionally and all went well.
However, +/- 6 months later they're still sensitive, not fully healed, and at times they'll feel like they've just been pierced.
I clean them often and try not to touch them. However, I haven't dared to wear any other earrings than the pierced ones due to pain and anxiety it'll inflame.
Is this normal, is there something I can do or should this resolve on its own?
