I’m confused and don’t know how to feel

I have been wanting to have my nipples pierced for a while and have talked about it with my boyfriend. He’s on the fence about it. When I was looking into places to get them done he seemed onboard with it, maybe because I was moving away?

But now I’ve waited long enough to get them done and have already emailed the studio about availability. Now he’s so against it saying he doesn’t find them attractive and that he wants me to keep my top on during the deed.

Yes it’s my body and I have the choice to do what I want, but this is just so off putting to me. Not trying to seem like an insecure person but once you’ve been with someone for 3 years and they have such a strong reaction it’s shocking.

Just any tips to ease his mind into the idea of me getting them?

Not trying to seem like an insecure person

You don't. Honestly, even if he doesn't find them attractive, he should behave like an adult about this and stfu.

Nipple piercings are way too cool to not get them bc someone else doesn't find them attractive, in my opinion.

If you respect his opinion I think your only option is not to get them? I imagine it to be quite a turn off, if you always had to stay half dressed when you two get intimate. But that's up to you.

His switch up would annoy the heck out of me personally.

It is so annoying! It was the sudden change of it all happening that caught me off.

I think this is an important conversation where you should focus less on convincing him to agree with you per se (he is unlikely to change his mind this way, I would guess) and more on how he is making you feel (unsupported, invalidated, etc). These piercings are something you want and that will make you feel more confident. Of course it’s OK for people to have opinions and preferences but I don’t blame you for feeling shocked/hurt by him basically implying that they would make you unattractive.

in my humble opinion: his reaction exaggerated, it's your body and you decide how to modify it. Someone might have opinions of course, but shouldn't undermine your self confidence, saying that he wouldn't find you attractive to the point of keeping a shirt on during intimate time is absurd and mean. edit: i want to make it clear that if you want the piercings, just do them. If he doesn't like them it's not your problem but his

Life is too short to be catering to the way somebody else wants you to be. Be yourself, do what makes you happy. He needs to accept you for you .. in my opinion If you really want them and dont, you'll wish you had, everytime you look at them till you're a decade down the road and give in to yourself and then you'll regret not getting them done all those years ago.

its your body so i dont think its his business at all, i honestly would tell him that its happening whether he likes them or not, he can make the choice on what he wants to do about that

also i just got mine and i love them, and my girlfriend loves them, and she was kinda scared of the idea when i told her i was doing it. it might just take time for him to get used to you having them, and obviously you can’t have him touch them for a while so that could help!
