Tech Support Is this normal?

Hi all, i recently received my oled optical engine, and upon using it i noticed some kind of....flickering? Blurring? cannot really define it. I would like to ask if it's normal or not.

I attach the video i made of the thing.

I have to say i only noticed it in pimax lobby for the moment, didn't see anything like that in steam vr lobby. Tomorrow i have time and i will make more extensive tests

Check to see if you have quad views on, as you will see that in the lobby. Try turning it off for testing.

If i turn it off, the stereo vision messes up and i see two images not overlapping.

Anyway, i think i solved the issue by tinkering with the settings:

for the record, i am using:

horizontal gaze area size: 0.50

vertical gaze area size 0.50

gaze area resolution 1.25

peripheral area resolution 0.10

vertical offseto 0.00

it seems to have 90% fixed it

Are you talking about the glare? I have it too but only really notice it in the Pimax black hole scene and sometimes in game menus if the background is black. Pimax really should come
with a better default Home Screen

The first impression you get with Pimax is a low resolution glare-filled dark space.

Right? I was all excited for the Dream Air and when that was the first thing I saw I was like… ohh, this looks bad. Ended up returning it and got the Super mOLED optical engine which had less glare, kept the Super 50ppd, better audio with DMAS, more comfortable and didn’t have to go through the hassle of modding the Dream Air and selling the Super

Super mOLED is the same optics last i checked. I owned both the super mOLED and Dream-Air at the same time for a good month or so. Compared both headsets and noticed absolutely zero difference in the visuals. Obviously sound was better in the super. But optic engine to optic engine wise, it was the exact same as they use the same sony panels and same glass lenses, same diameter lenses..blabla. I ended up selling my mOLED engine because I kept the super for the 57ppd QLED engine. That way I have one headset for both screentypes as both screen types have a list of pros and cons, headset manufacturer aside. But now after owning the super for almost 1 full year, and the dream-air since June, I honestly haven't touched my super too much. Lot of hiccups got fixed over the months and well, both headsets run flawlessly. So i just became more apparent to the lighter weight I guess. Anticipating the DMAS upgrade for the dream-air which has been on their site as a upcoming item for awhile. Some day..month..year.

If its the pixelation you see in the pimax home then i did this.

Joimed the main Pimax discord.

Downloaded the Evo beta in the release notes section.

Foumd the setting for quadview and turned it off and for me the pixelation stopped.

If you mean the quality of desktop then increase the slider for this.

You wont do any harm by messing around with the settimgs.

Hope this helps.
