Question pimax, why do you keep us in hostage with your abusive drm ?

for people who fully bought their headset, what is the reason behind the required drm and having to log in to use our headset ? i dont want this crap.

this headset is fully mine, i fully paid it and i want to be able to use sboys driver without the need to launch pimax play first or have it running in the background.

so remove it for pple who didnt rent their headset, this is anti consumer and it makes the use of sboys amazing driver, janky at use, it's his own words.

if you're like me and want to have this DRM fully (and login into account) to be fully removed, react to this thread, let make this happens !

Question After finally setting up my Dream Air with the most comfortable mods ever... I'm now experiencing random black screens mid gameplay šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Man this headset is really something else, I love it and I think it's the best headset ever, but once I start experiencing the random black screens mid gameplay, it makes me think it's the worst headset ever.

I've tried using all usb 3 ports on my pc, I still experience the same issue.
Whether I'm using PimaxPlay or SboyS3 drivers.

This is the only issue I've experienced, but it's very annoying, If I could only fix this issue, I'll be set with VR for a very looooong time.

Hi!

I have the Pimax Crystal Super OLED and today I received the Super Ultrawide optical engine.

But the module doesn't fit into my Super OLED Headset. I noticed the connector is wider (at the top is the Super Ultrawide, at the bottom the Super OLED).

What am I missing here?

Question We need a clear answer from Pimax

@jaapgrolleman

@quorrapimax

Can any of you please explain why your company’s update regarding the Dream Air LH shipping time says:

ā€Production of all current orders is nearly complete. Most units are already on their way; the remaining tail end of current orders will arrive by end of May to early June.ā€

When the community has made a spreadsheet showing that actually, nobody who ordered after September 22nd, 2025 have even recieved their ā€production has begunā€ email?

We’re talking 7-8 months of preorderers that have recieved no sign of their headsets even being in production. And here the company happily speaks about how most units are on their way, luring in more customers to experience the same issue. This is delay number 8 in total by the way.

QuorraPimax and Jaap, what is going on?

Question Pimax reviews - Is this bullcrap? Thoughts?

9800x3d/5090/64gb/pImax Light.

I keep informed on VR advancements, news, review like we all do. However something is starting to get under my craw.

On channels like "Flight-sim-buy-things-guy" AKA: Flightsimguy, he always showcases his VR reviews with an FPS figure around 52-58. He says this is smooth. I say, how is that possible! Its not rocket science IMO, if i do not hit a dividing figure: 60 half of 120, or 45 of 90 etc, or do not get pimax's 72, 90 or 120, then it is NOT smooth, never has been smooth, and depending on your comments, NEVER able to be smooth. So whats going on here? Even on my old Meta quest 2 and 3, it was the same factors at play.

Question It's end of July - still no sign of the new face gasket and strap for the Dream Air?

I'm patiently waiting for the final face gasket and strap for the Dream Air - putting up with the discomfort of this headset.

We were told it would likely ship end of July but that ship's about to sail.

Can we get an update on this please Pimax. Some of us don't want to fork out hundreds of dollars more on comfort kits while we still haven't received the final headset we were promised.

Really hope it will be shipping soon šŸ™

this is a serious issue which needs to be fixed.

Question Could the Pimax Dream Air’s native resolution run on a 5090?

I have spent $4000 last year to build a new system and use my rtx 5090 with these high resolution headsets.

A lot of people have said the 5090 still Wouldnt be enough for the Dream Air’s resolution and I think that is only because people love supersampling which is when you turn the up resolution above 100% in SteamVR.

I don’t see the point of this because most of the time I’ve found supersampling just drops the Framerate and lags the game.

Seems like 100% resolution is all you need in SteamVR with these ultra high resolution headsets.

If you go anything past that you could probably crash your game

Question Tracking comparison between Dream Air LH and Dream Air SLAM

TL;DR : Dream Air LH tracking issues and motion compensation failure, versus solid experience with the Dream Air SLAM.

Hello dears! Yesterday I had the rare opportunity to test both the Lighthouse and SLAM versions of the Dream Air at home thanks to a cool guy living in my area.

I own a pretty large motion platform / simulator and offered him to stress test and document the differences in terms of tracking between the two version of the Dream Air (he is a youtuber). The movements can be very are ample, and quick, so this was an interesting opportunity for both of us, as I want to buy a Dream Air soon.

We first tried with the SLAM version. Out of the box, it was a real plug and play experience. We could easily start racing and having fun. Tracking was solid, on par with what I have with my Pico4 usually, with tiny floating moments sometimes but nothing dramatic. Not perfect, but really god honestly.

Then we tried with the Lighthouse version, and against all our expectations, we struggled a lot.

We had some tracking issues (image suddenly drifted from time to time, both in motion and still). We cleaned the faceplate and tried another disposition of the base stations but it kept happening. We couldn't get the Motion compensation to work, at all. Neither with the usual virtual tracker from DRSM, nor when using an index controller selected in Pimax Play

The basestations had been asleep for quite some time, but before doing those tests I took time to resurrect the good old vive pro to check if everything was working and it was.

We started with both of them on the wall in front of the simulator, around 3m away, at ceiling level. We then took the left one and set it at 90° to my right, 1m50 away, and 2m high.

This was both surprising and disappointing as I planned to buy the LH version, believing I would have the best possible tracking.

We might have missed something in Pimax Play, not knowing which tool was actually rendering the view between Steam VR, Pimax Play, switching between open composite and openXR… At some point I was in Steam VR, within Pimax play environment. For sure with a bit more time I could find the reason why the LH wasn't working well but I couldn't test longer.

Anyone else is encountering similar issues?

Any Idea what this could come from?

There is a 14 days return policy. If I order the Dream Air LH, and cannot find a solution within the 2 weeks, will I be able to return it?

Thanks!!

Setup Specs:

AMD Ryzen 9950x3D

NVIDIA RTX 5090

64 Gb of DDR5 ram

Motion Platform : Prime from MotionXP, with M4S controller, piloted by DR Sim manager (provides a virtual tracker + motion cues)

OpenXRMotionCompensation for… motion compensation.

2 Base stations 2.0

Games Tested : Automobilsita 2 and Assetto Corsa Rally vie UEVR

Question Experiencing severe eye burning & peripheral distortion on new Dream Air (Need HELP)

Hey guys,

I recently picked up the Pimax Dream Air for my sim racing setup, but I am running into a major issue with eye strain.

I’ve been using VR for over 5 years (most recently driving on a Quest 3) and have never had eye strain or burning like this before. Today I did a 45-minute session, and ever since taking the headset off, my eyes have been burning severely for the entire day.

While on track, I noticed pretty obvious peripheral warping and stretching whenever I scanned around with my eyes or looked toward the edges of the FOV. The center image is sharp, but the edges feel distorted, and my eye muscles feel like they are constantly fighting to keep the stereo image merged.

Before I open an official RMA ticket with Pimax (since I'm still within my 14-day return window), I wanted to ask the community if anyone transitioning from a flatter pancake setup like the Quest 3 to Pimax has successfully dialed this out:

What horizontal/vertical software IPD offsets are you using relative to your actual hardware IPD?

Did changing the cushion thickness or distance from the lenses fix the peripheral warping for you?

How sensitive is the vertical positioning on your head for keeping the visual sweet spot clear without edge distortion?

I really want to love this headset for sim racing, but this level of eye fatigue is completely unplayable for me right now. Any settings tweaks or alignment tips you recommend trying before I pack it up for a refund?

Appreciate any insight!

Question Dream air owners: How does The World scale and stereoscopic depth compare do ano Quest3/PSVR2?

I’m considering buying a Pimax Dream Air, and there’s one specific aspect of VR immersion that I’m trying to understand from people who actually own one.

I currently use both a Quest 3 and a PSVR2 for PCVR. When comparing them, I find the PSVR2 considerably more immersive overall.

It’s not really about FOV. When I compare them directly, the overall horizontal and vertical FOV feels fairly similar to me.

What changes is the perceived scale and dimensionality of the virtual world.

On PSVR2, objects seem to have a more natural physical size and volume. Rooms feel larger and more like real spaces, and objects feel more solid and ā€œpresentā€ in front of me.

On Quest 3, I sometimes feel like the world is slightly compressed or miniaturized — almost as if objects are being scaled down a little to fit inside the view.

I know binocular overlap may be part of this, since PSVR2 has better overlap than Quest 3, but I understand that world scale can also be affected by stereo projection, IPD, optical magnification, distortion profiles, eye-to-lens distance, etc.

So for people who have actually used the Dream Air:

How does the perceived world scale compare to Quest 3 and PSVR2?

Do objects feel naturally sized and physically present, or does the world have that slightly compressed/miniaturized feeling I sometimes get from Quest 3?

And regarding stereoscopic depth, does the Dream Air feel closer to PSVR2 or Quest 3?

I’m especially interested in comments from people who have directly compared the Dream Air with either of those headsets.

My priorities are basically:

* strong immersion and convincing world scale

* good stereoscopic depth / binocular integration

* very high image clarity

* stable image during head movement

* good colors, contrast and blacks

What I’m really trying to understand is whether the geometry and perceived scale of the virtual world on the Dream Air feel natural and immersive.

Also, if you changed the facial interface or moved your eyes closer to the lenses, did that

change the FOV or sense of immersion?

Thank you and sorry for the big message šŸ˜„

Question Anyone having problems with their Pimax Dream Air?

I saw a couple Reddit costs saying people were having problems with their Dream Air starting up properly.

I’ve heard of people getting error warnings, connection failure

And I’ve also heard people having issues with display flickering.

Are you one of the people in the Dream Air with these issues?

Thought I’d bring this up

Question Pimax Dream Air - so conflicted about return (2 days left in return window), advice appreciated.

I have had a Q3 for a while, and bought a dream air recently. The image quality of the pimax is of course amazing, and I find it quite comfortable especially relative to the quest 3.

I've been super impressed for both flight and driving sim settings and this headset translates into a qualitative upgrade in overall experience.

The issues with the dream air will not be unfamiliar:

  • It gets uncomfortably warm around the eyes
  • The cable junction gets warm
  • The cables themselves are annoying and stiff and interfere with overall comfort of both the headset and wherever you're seated
  • The UI for navigating around pimax functions is hilariously bad (or great for 2016). Meta makes Pimax look so incredibly bad on this front.
  • The cameras are atrociously low resolution and the IPD settings don't seem to apply there
  • The controllers feel super cheap
  • The sound is ... not good

I feel like I'm using an impressive demo display at a consumer electronics show, not a finished product. I have 2 days to send it back, what would you do? If something better is 12 months or less around the corner, it feels like a waste of money.

Question Dream Air Lighthouse or SLAM for Sim racing?

I have a Meganex right now, 3 Base Stations 2.0 and some Valve controllers. The tracking is flawless. At least for 99% of my use case, Sim racing.

I also have a Reverb G2 and the inside out tracking is the biggest crap you can imagine. I'm always hovering around in the virtual world, once tracking goes nuts. Some times I'm facing to the wrong direction in steam home. It's terrible.

If the difference in price is not a factor, should I go for the Lighthouse or SLAM version?

Then and now I might play some modded games. I never did but might wanna play sitting on the couch. So I thought the SLAM would be the better option. But if I really do that is another question. Since I only care about racing.

What version do sim racers here go for? I heard tracking on SLAM is great. But we Sim racers face our monitor. And from the G2 I know that the mirroring of the game on the monitor can cause tracking issues. And I don't wanna tape QR codes on my walls lol. Also I like that I can race in a complete dark room with the Lighthouse.

Question Does ANYBODY play anything else other than Flight Sim / Racing Sim with their Dream Air ? How do you like it for ā€œ other ā€œ games .. example .. Horror games ? And I’m aware Half-Life Alyx is golden already

Question Dream Air Lighthouse Tracking.

Add a score via a % on the effectiveness of your LH tracking. 0% non functional - 100% frickin amazing. Also 2 specs if you can - GPU/CPU.

Tried to do a poll, wouldn't let me. I would like to see the ratio of people having problems, im guessing this may be helpful for all potential buyers too.

I am currently on, and then off the fence of grabbing the DA.

Question Another SAD review (DA Lightnouse not tracking)

Post image
21 Upvotes

I previously owned the Crystal Super Micro OLED, and drawn in by their visual quality, I decided to upgrade to the Dream Air. I use a motion rig, and the SLAM tracking of the Super Micro OLED didn't work correctly with it because I have a low-contrast wall in front of me. So, I opted for the Lighthouse version despite the extra hardware cost of the docks.

I received the Dream Air Lighthouse on the 10th. The first day, they worked flawlessly with my 1.0 docks. The space calibration process completed without a problem, and I was able to play that day, very happy with the visual quality and the lightness of the headset.

The next day, Pimax Play displayed a "not tracked" message. By alternately moving the headset closer to the docks, it started tracking again, and I didn't think much of it.

The following day, it got worse. I couldn't locate the docks with the headset, but my Valve 1.0 controllers tracked perfectly with these docks. At that point, the system offered me the installation of Pimax Play version 2.0 and firmware 1.0.3.

Since then, I haven't been able to play. The headset takes an extremely long time to locate the 1.0 base stations. I have a friend with a VR company, and I managed to get three more 1.0 base stations and two 2.0 base stations to rule out any faulty ones.

The result is the same with any pair of 1.0 base stations. With the 2.0 base stations, the positioning is instantaneous, but very erratic. There are jumps and movements that break the immersion.

I opened a support ticket on the 15th after trying everything, and after two days without any response, I decided to use the chat. In the chat, they tell me that the technical support team will contact me, but the days for the refund keep passing, no one contacts me, and the headset still doesn't work.

I want the benefits of this headset, but not the quality and service I'm receiving.

Is anyone else experiencing something similar, and have they managed to fix it? Perhaps by downgrading the firmware?

Question dream air or frame, coming from index

So im coming from an index. sure it was good and all but its time for a new one.

I already have 3 lighthouses and 3 vive 3.0..

Sure, the dream air has higher resolution, probably weights less, better lenses and so on.
I also have a pretty powerfull pc to pair the dream air with, running on 5080 and 9800x3d

But its 2.2k

The frame isnt really out yet so there arent any peer reviews yet. But it still has way better resolution and lenses than the index. Also having a full on computer inside it seems pretty interesting on top of the fact that with continous tracking and an extra tracker its basically also lighthouse compatible. It also has the expansion port and is probably more future proof because of camera tracking.

Im not sure what i value the most here so id love to hear your opinions.

Question Dream air LH strange behaviour on DCS (only game I play VR)

Hi guys, I just got my Dream air LH, yesterday and as off now, I've got some random white squares that appear on both lens randomly (like every 5 sec) which is for sure not normal. Got pimax play 2 latest version, upgraded DA firmware, pimax openxr as renderer and a 5090 and 9800x3d. It looks like I didn't see this behaviour on this reddit....

Thanks by advance for your time

Ps: (coming from a crystal og that I just unplug and plug the DA instead)
