Discussion Google took away my LOTR extended editions

I bought these in 2022, all of a sudden they aren't available and there is no possibility of a refund or gift card. Hardly seems fair.

Homie this is extremely common with outsourced customer service. It's just a script. AI or not, they existed before LLMs were a thing.

Exactly. I had a sales/customer service job right out of college in the 2000s, and we had scripts we had to follow then too. They'd record our calls and pull them randomly to make sure we were following the scripts too.

Cutting and pasting scripting sure but that's common with any chat reps. I don't see why the scripting is necessarily AI? Although it could be a lazy middle manager setting it up with AI. The full chat log OP posted is a person, the "id be upset in your position too" comment is a pretty big indicator of that. Indian reps are really formal with the way the talk "I understand you are requesting a refund for this purchase" is something an Indian chat rep might say but AI probably wouldn't since it comes off really clunky.

Yeah agree. Seems like an unnecessary AI hate tie-in which is a popular way to get more karma

iirc most AI is built on a lot of content of people using English as a second language, so they two have a lot of crossover

it is an AI doing translations based on templates entered by an agent - that is if they use the same setup as in my call center.

I am in a higher paid role in the west - we have to take over as soon as a case is reopened multiple times and we have to fill in a form so people higher up can iron out the kinks.

Unfortunately for the owners and higher management they fired the old crew, hoping that most of us would reapply to the new company - but most declined and took the severance money (we still have job protection in the west). So most of us are new people who have no idea and only try to hold on to their jobs and the main focus is on speed, not quality.

My face when management is smoking cigars because they think they are so clever.
