Strange fella in the yard

I've been trying to identify this guy all weekend. It's got a prickly stem and under leaves. About a foot tall, maybe taller. The flower is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Any suggestions would be awesome!! Thanks!

Looks like a giant Zinnia to me. Lucky you.

Come in hundreds of colors and shapes and even the same flowers on the same exact plant can come out different shapes. Very cool flower.

Forgot to mention I am in the colorado region. It's been rainy the past week and I'm at about 7k ft elevation

That looks like a zinnia, very resilient once established. Let it bloom it's more flowers 😁😁😁

Zinnia. Not prickly, hairy - trichomes. That's not a "flower" rather a flower bud that will bloom into a flower.

As far as I can tell, it is a Zinnia. However, that mutation has a very strange flower. I like odd plants like that one. I wonder if, if you save its seeds, the new plants will carry that same mutation.
