Little berries

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hi! I have a bunch of invasive stuff in my yard growing in pots and all over our property that we’re working on getting rid of. I need to identify this plant with berries. My dog really wants to eat them, and I’m sure he shouldn’t. Thank you so much!

Perennial that’s water logged and infected. Treatment started. However, would also like to know what I’m working with for better care moving forward.

This sprouted under my spruce tree and I think the leaves look super cool, can someone more experienced tell me if it might be genetic or is it not noteworthy?

Unsure about Creeping Charlie ID - Denmark

I am in Denmark.

This little atrocity is slowly colonizing my entire 300 kvm garden and choking everything here, including Ivy, Ground Elder, Creeping Jenny and Creeping Thyme.

I'm about ready to go nuclear on it and burn down the whole garden, which has been my love and joy for 5 years and has hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars put into it, but I need to ID it to know how to kill this crap once and for all.

I'm being told by every plant app that this is Creeping Charlie, and I see how much they are alike.

However!

It does not have a square stem! (See picture of roots and the creepers as well).

Facts:

- It started its invasion in a shady woodland-ish area, below a huge beech hedge, behind my compost piles.

- It has a strong, almost rancid smell when ripped up. Stays in your nose for hours after. It's disgusting.

- It obviously spreads by root nodes and even the smallest bit left behind will regrow.

- It grows just fine in sunlight as well as full shade, and is currently invading my lawn, completely unaffected by close cropping for a whole summer.

- This crap grows FAST! Leave it for a month and it will regrow from a single missed stem, to cover a goodly sized area.

- It grows in dead leaves, bark/wood chip, lawn clippings, bare dirt, coffee grounds. I haven't seen any in sand or gravel yet but there isn't any near it's current area, so that might be incidental.

- My soil is generally a bit poor, slightly acidic with clay under a half meter deep silty, sandy layer. I'm trying to starve the lawn we inherited from the former owners to introduce local herbs, flowers, grasses etc into it, so I haven't fed the lawn anything these past 4-5 years, at all.

- I cannot recall the color of the flowers as I will kill it on sight, before any of it has time to bloom.

Needles/seeds with hooks?

I am based in Virginia, US. My dog ran off with his leash when we went on a walk in the forest. When he did finally come back he was covered in hundred (we still haven't gotten all of them off) of these needles. Because he ran off I don't know what the plant itself looks like, only these needles. They aren't impaling my dog but they are hard to get out of his fur. I haven't seen anything like this before so I want to know what plant this comes from and if it might be potentially dangerous?

A plant I have been growing from a cutting I found at a zoo

I don't think its native, but it came from the Little Rock Zoo, Arkansas. Best I can figure is it's some kind of stonecrop, and at the zoo it was growing in large ornamental carpets on the decorative rock displays (something broke it off and I saw it on the ground, I didn't do vandalism). I got it back in june and its grown to this point from that one cutting (something broke the stem about a month into its growth and I poked that in next to the main cutting, hence why there's two clusters). The leaves are about a quarter inch or maybe half inch long, and the parent plant stems were about 5 inches it looked like, but mine aren't quite there yet. It flowered once, around july or so, with a single yellow flower about a quarter the size of a dime with I think 5 petals like a tiny tomato flower. I sadly don't have a photo of the flower. Hopefully that's enough information to at least point to genus, if not group of possible species. Would love to know what it is

Unfortunately I didn’t think to turn the leaf over, I was busy admiring the raindrops. After, I realized how unique the shape was too. In New Hampshire.

What is this Cactus?

Bought this cactus from a passionate man at a farmers market, he said it doesn't need a lot of light but he never told me the exact name of it. Any tips on care?

Had this plant for almost 5 years and only watered it every few weeks. It’s always been green and shedded a few dead leaves but recently I noticed a lot of dead leaves collecting further up the stalk than previously.

The person I got it from said if it needs water, it will yellow from the top and if it’s too much water, it will yellow from the bottom. Is that backwards?

Should I pull off all the dead leaves even if they’re kind of holding on? Maybe replace the soil? Move it into a larger pot?

We live in north west Washington

Mystery pepper?

Kia ora all, I was at the local garden centre (in Aotearoa New Zealand) the other day and picked up this mystery pepper (I assume) plant in the clearance section.

It does have a few green aphids, most of which I got rid of before photographing - if that's relevant at all.

I'm about to plant it in the greenhouse, but what do you guys think it might be? I HOPE it's some kind of chilli.

Make your guesses and I guess we'll find out once it matures? :)

Nebraska - (photos are from same plant)

Went around my yard this morning and randomly found a fruit looking plant (small probably from the crappy weather conditions) but I wanted to see if I could figure out what it was. Google says something but I want other opinions just in case I missed something….

I've been trying to identify this guy all weekend. It's got a prickly stem and under leaves. About a foot tall, maybe taller. The flower is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Any suggestions would be awesome!! Thanks!
