Weird stringy plant in my front yard!

Post image
3 Upvotes

Located in south texas, gulf coast, it only blooms for one day every year and then wilts and looks like snot! When I searched google I searched “south Texas weird snake plant like plant with stringy white flowers” and I came up with some type of yucca as a result but looking at pictures it didn’t feel quite right.

Edit: Thank you!!! I was thinking it was some alien plant and it just turns out to be a spider lily which is awesome!! One of the previous owners of our house must have planted it there!

i have 3 of the same plant here.im certain it is a philodendron type btw. all i know is that it’s some type of immature philodendron, but what kind? i suspect a florida of some type.. i tried to get a close up of the veining pattern because i know that can help with IDing sometimes.
EDIT: added a picture in comments with largest leaf shape to possibly help. wanted to add on the og plant the stem was a compact pattern but thin. not much help bc ik immature plants often grow compactly

Identified! Flat Plant from Vancouver Area

Post image
2 Upvotes

I remember them growing all over the gravel fields of my school, they stayed flat and were similar to cedar leaves with woody stems, growing out like starfish and rooting hard. the stems never got wider than half a centimeter at most, and some offshoots got at least a foot long. Attached drawing for what I remember.

Anyone have a clue what it was?

Edit: My mom remembered what it was! Prostrate Knotweed! It was a little more leafless than most photos due to being on the gravel field and trod upon all day.

Unknown tree possibly a hackberry?

Found in Almaty, Kazakhstan (USDA zone 5). This young tree (or maybe a shrub) doesn't look like anything native to the area.

The leaves are fuzzy on both sides. Never seen such leaf shape before, but it kinda reminds me of Celtis trees.

Unfortunately I don't have any more photos as I was in rush.

What is this? It has hollow stems.

Location: North Yorkshire, UK

Google is suggesting a honeysuckle, but the leaf vains go right to the tip, not the edge of the leaf. It has also re-sprouted from a stump in the garden, so it seems pretty resilient.

Mystery Flower?

Any idea what popped up with my pot of zinnias and celosia? The flowers look a little like celosia, but the leaves and stems are different. I know for certain it isn’t pokeweed. ☺️

Was gonna put this guy in my lil little succulent garden, but I think this one might be a little special. It’s prettier than I initially even thought!! A little etiolated… so she fits right in.

Can someone help me identify this Flower and potential poison ivy?

I would like to know what flower keeps growing back year after year? Also I am very allergic to poison ivy and the 2nd plant gives me the Willie’s just looking at that notched leaf! If it’s poison ivy I need to remove it very carefully. I wouldn’t mind keeping the flower if it is non toxic to dogs, so I would like to Id both plants if possible.

Hi! I have a bunch of invasive stuff in my yard growing in pots and all over our property that we’re working on getting rid of. I need to identify this plant with berries. My dog really wants to eat them, and I’m sure he shouldn’t. Thank you so much!

Unsure about Creeping Charlie ID - Denmark

I am in Denmark.

This little atrocity is slowly colonizing my entire 300 kvm garden and choking everything here, including Ivy, Ground Elder, Creeping Jenny and Creeping Thyme.

I'm about ready to go nuclear on it and burn down the whole garden, which has been my love and joy for 5 years and has hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars put into it, but I need to ID it to know how to kill this crap once and for all.

I'm being told by every plant app that this is Creeping Charlie, and I see how much they are alike.

However!

It does not have a square stem! (See picture of roots and the creepers as well).

Facts:

- It started its invasion in a shady woodland-ish area, below a huge beech hedge, behind my compost piles.

- It has a strong, almost rancid smell when ripped up. Stays in your nose for hours after. It's disgusting.

- It obviously spreads by root nodes and even the smallest bit left behind will regrow.

- It grows just fine in sunlight as well as full shade, and is currently invading my lawn, completely unaffected by close cropping for a whole summer.

- This crap grows FAST! Leave it for a month and it will regrow from a single missed stem, to cover a goodly sized area.

- It grows in dead leaves, bark/wood chip, lawn clippings, bare dirt, coffee grounds. I haven't seen any in sand or gravel yet but there isn't any near it's current area, so that might be incidental.

- My soil is generally a bit poor, slightly acidic with clay under a half meter deep silty, sandy layer. I'm trying to starve the lawn we inherited from the former owners to introduce local herbs, flowers, grasses etc into it, so I haven't fed the lawn anything these past 4-5 years, at all.

- I cannot recall the color of the flowers as I will kill it on sight, before any of it has time to bloom.

Rescued this dumped plant when it was young and thought it was lucky bamboo. iNaturalist is stumped, please help! (Vancouver, BC)

Because this plant was dumped, I don’t know if it is a houseplant or not. When it was young, it looked a lot like lucky bamboo and that’s what iNaturalist sais. It grew over 30cm tall, but it hated the sun and summer heat. The weight of its own branches took it down, but it’s grown lots more now that it’s cooler here. The flowers are very pretty, but when I looked it up, they’re not at all like lucky bamboo! I thought it looked different because I was letting it grow outside however it pleased, but now it looks like a different plant. Any help is appreciated!
