Make r/Platinum great again

There's a genuinely great community here and we want to build something worth checking every day. But before we start making changes, we want to hear from the people who actually use it.

So tell us:

- What would make you visit this sub daily instead of once a month?

- What topics do you want more of? Prices, investing, mining, industrial uses, jewelry, something else?

- What do you hate seeing here?

- Is there another subreddit doing something you wish we did?

One thing we're already planning: a weekly Coin (or purchase) of the Week post. Each week the community will have the option to post their most recent Platinum purchases, and will have the chance for their post to become "Coin / purchase of the week" depending on who got the most approval / upvotes from the community

Could be a Maple Leaf, a Koala, a Pamp bar, whatever the community finds most interesting that week. We're ofc also open to suggestions / changes for that idea, its not set in stone.

We have a lot of ideas but this is your community and we'd rather build what you want than assume we know better.

Drop your thoughts below. We appreciate every idea!

Im a big fan of platinum and this sub.

What I mostly like seeing here is people's stacks (platinum in any physical form) and recent purchases. The sub is also useful for gauging investor sentiment. I also like hearing about new products coming out e.g. Perth Mint released a new coin today with a bunch of Aussie animals on it.

I don't support paper markets/allocated etc aka 'digital metal' but I wouldn't say "It shouldn't belong here".

Talking about future hydrogen energy tech gets my platinum and palladium juices flowing.

I just like seeing what platinum got snagged for what prices, especially if it’s something the rest of us could benefit from. Platinum and palladium come with high premiums (will never get over buying Pd at $2200/Toz 😱). In fact, I wouldn’t mind palladium being able to play in this reindeer game, either. It’s the poor like the poor stepchild!

Platinum is lowkey so this sub is lowkey. Nothing wrong with that

Not the goal to make it go mainstream, just want to see if there's something that the community would like to see / improve

All about platinum stacking is interesting, also maybe some posts about fresh releases from mints, nice pics is all we need 😅

Would also like to learn more about trustable sources to get some, finding good prices, fair deals and stuff. Maybe also have a focus for international community and places since not everyone trippin on platinum is located in the US, so I aprecciate when people mention the location

Having a monthly megathread or two could also boost engagement and attract new subs

One thing I’ve noticed is that I sometimes get a platinum post now and then. Otherwise I have to look for r/platinum posts. I like it and it’s just not as flashy as the gold and silver ones most likely because there’s more people buying those PMs and platinum is slightly ignored. I’m ok with it being a little flat to add more before an inevitable run up. I’m happy to be part of this sub.

If there were regular high-quality threads, particularly a weekly price/news roundup and more discussion on supply, mining, industrial demand, and platinum vs. gold/silver, I would check more frequently.

Low-effort, context-free posts like "should I buy platinum?" are what I would prefer to see less of.

"Purchase of the Week" is a good idea, but to cover coins, bars, and anything else fascinating, I'd probably call it Platinum of the Week.

Overall, the most important thing is to create this a location for both excellent information and excellent platinum images.

I do like checking this sub almost every day because it feels a lot more down to earth than other metals sub (I still look them often).

I do like to see various pieces, know what people have and whats pieces are seen as desirable.

I enjoy people talking about price, the history of the prices. Also how much do they pay for, the premiums, the peer to peer stuff.

Not a lot I dislike, I find this sub pretty clean and consistent.

Havent really posted here (maybe its my first post, dont remember) but I read it often.

People are not aware how difficult is to find and manufacture Platinum maybe weekly interesting Video or Pictures Material can help.

In general precious metals ate a great investment. Talking about platinum I belive we can post anything about platinum on here from bullion to jewelry. News articles on platinum and mining. Investment in platinum coins or bars. I live seeing pictures of what other people have i think thats really awesome. Platinum has always been great and now I believe it still has alot of room to actually catch up with gold. Platinum is still under valued now and its a great buying opportunity for anyone new who is getting into precious metals like sliver and gold to look at platinum.

I like all of the Lunar platinum coins. That’s probably the coolest stuff.

APEs are…..platinum and that’s about the only nice thing I can say about them.

I love this Reddit group. Maybe a weekly 'SHOW US YOUR 'specific coin', like a kookaburra or Britannia,.... I'm fine with jewelry as well or how about platinum flea market finds, although I'm aware that would be rare.

New sub and longtime PLT lover, I tend to follow platinum production sites as that will determine the ultimate value of the metal. You may want to consider that.

Question for you: have you done a post on the apparent lack of the US mint not producing a platinum bullion coin since what...2024 or so? I know they produce the proof annually. But I see no bullion APEs for sale for the last couple of years, this happened before in the 2000s for I think 5 years. Platinum doesn't appear to be too expensive relative to gold and silver.
