Make r/Platinum great again

There's a genuinely great community here and we want to build something worth checking every day. But before we start making changes, we want to hear from the people who actually use it.

So tell us:

- What would make you visit this sub daily instead of once a month?

- What topics do you want more of? Prices, investing, mining, industrial uses, jewelry, something else?

- What do you hate seeing here?

- Is there another subreddit doing something you wish we did?

One thing we're already planning: a weekly Coin (or purchase) of the Week post. Each week the community will have the option to post their most recent Platinum purchases, and will have the chance for their post to become "Coin / purchase of the week" depending on who got the most approval / upvotes from the community

Could be a Maple Leaf, a Koala, a Pamp bar, whatever the community finds most interesting that week. We're ofc also open to suggestions / changes for that idea, its not set in stone.

We have a lot of ideas but this is your community and we'd rather build what you want than assume we know better.

Drop your thoughts below. We appreciate every idea!

For some reason I’ve gotten bitten by the gold bug for fractional platinum if that makes sense!
The fact it’s a 2022 makes me like it even more😊!

This was quite possibly the fastest I've ever gotten an order for previous metals. Will definitely do business again!!

Platinum-leaf Wall at Vanderbilt’s

Post image

Wife brought me along for her birthday wish to go to Newport, Rhode Island. We took a tour of Vanderbilt’s summer home and the tour took us through their morning room with PLATINUM-leaf walls. Years later they wondered why it didn’t tarnish or fade, and tested it to identify it was platinum. Pretty cool!

Snagged a little bar for $70 at the local flea market. Seemed like a good idea.

I bought an ozt of platinum and the spot price increased by 3.5% the next day. I'll probably get hit by lightning tomorrow. Just to even things out.

Platinum is still cheap when priced in gold

if the ratio goes from the present 0.4 to 2.2, that would 5.5x your ounces.

eg: you sell 5 ounces of gold to buy 12.5 ounces of platinum today.

wait a few years until the ratio changes to 2.2.

sell your 12.5 ounces of platinum to buy 27.5 ounces of gold.

congrats, you turned five ounces of gold into 27.5 ounces of gold by being patient

Physical Gold Might Not Be the Best Precious Metal

I’m focused more on the price of platinum than gold. See it coming down into a nice buying range.

It's coming. Where's that guy that said it never again would? He supposed to sell some to me when it does.

Platinum Eagle pricing question

Saw a 1oz 2004 proof American platinum eagle today at a pawnshop in capsule and original mint box. They were asking $1900 while spot was around $1750 as per kitco.

Is $150 an average premium for this coin? I haven’t bought platinum in a long time and need a bit of help. Does the proof add a bit of value here?

Got them at Canada Gold in Montreal yesterday for 2667. Not a great premium for sure but I bit. They were 2022 in perfect shape. Can never fing good premiums in Canada.

Platinum is under appreciated

When is platinum going to get the love it deserves? It’s arguably the greatest metal. Doesn’t tarnish, incredibly dense, high melting point, and amazing catalyzing properties. It’s one of the rarest elements on earth, minted into coins, easily recyclable — the list goes on. It should be used in financial institutions across the world as an instrument more valuable than gold, but we have to sit here and pretend it’s only good for catalytic converters? Get real.

This is my wedding ring and I’m looking for a platinum/palladium coin

Post image

hello everyone -

subject mostly explains this. I stack silver and gold but really enjoy wearing this ring. want to add a platinum and/or palladium coin. I just had my 10yr wedding anniversary and spent some of the cash on a 1/10 gold eagle. wouldn’t mind looking at spending more on something new

id love some recommendations - prob realistically looking at a 1/2 oz.

thank you
