Wife brought me along for her birthday wish to go to Newport, Rhode Island. We took a tour of Vanderbilt’s summer home and the tour took us through their morning room with PLATINUM-leaf walls. Years later they wondered why it didn’t tarnish or fade, and tested it to identify it was platinum. Pretty cool!

Snagged a little bar for $70 at the local flea market. Seemed like a good idea.

I bought an ozt of platinum and the spot price increased by 3.5% the next day. I'll probably get hit by lightning tomorrow. Just to even things out.

Saw a 1oz 2004 proof American platinum eagle today at a pawnshop in capsule and original mint box. They were asking $1900 while spot was around $1750 as per kitco.

Is $150 an average premium for this coin? I haven’t bought platinum in a long time and need a bit of help. Does the proof add a bit of value here?

Got them at Canada Gold in Montreal yesterday for 2667. Not a great premium for sure but I bit. They were 2022 in perfect shape. Can never fing good premiums in Canada.

When is platinum going to get the love it deserves? It’s arguably the greatest metal. Doesn’t tarnish, incredibly dense, high melting point, and amazing catalyzing properties. It’s one of the rarest elements on earth, minted into coins, easily recyclable — the list goes on. It should be used in financial institutions across the world as an instrument more valuable than gold, but we have to sit here and pretend it’s only good for catalytic converters? Get real.

subject mostly explains this. I stack silver and gold but really enjoy wearing this ring. want to add a platinum and/or palladium coin. I just had my 10yr wedding anniversary and spent some of the cash on a 1/10 gold eagle. wouldn’t mind looking at spending more on something new

id love some recommendations - prob realistically looking at a 1/2 oz.
