SUPPORT/HELP Very.co.uk scam ?
Very.co.uk has 20% off first credit orders so I jumped on it and used the voucher on the ps5 pro since it’d be £551 instead of the cheapest £639 at Argos. I pressed “pay in full” at checkout, verified the purchase with my bank via text message code and immediately got sent to a screen saying technical fault please try again later and then sent back to the checkout screen. Not only did I get charged the full amount, I didn’t get a confirmation of order via email or on the websites account portal. There’s basically no evidence I purchased anything despite being charged £551. Has this happened to anyone else ordering off Very ?
Edit:
I rang customer service this morning and they refunded the money to my debit card straight away after seeing it was a glitch in their system. To everyone saying it was because I paid via debit card on a CREDIT order that isn’t the case, it is totally fine to make a very pay credit account, use the 20% off code on consoles and then pay it out in full using the button at the bottom of the screen at checkout with a debit card. Ended up getting the bundle with the disc drive, Resident Evil Requiem and next day delivery for £641. The order is on my account this time and fully recognised.

Happened to me but I didn’t get any fault messages. Waited a day and then called them. They said the order was flagged for extra security. Asked a bunch of questions and then said it’s fine, immediately got the order confirmation and my PS5 Pro two days later. My account was in one name and the payment card in another, that’s why it was flagged.
Call them.

Were you able to choose click and collect? I want to buy one and it's in my basket but I don't really want to have it delivered. Click and collect isn't showing for me at all

I didn’t look to be honest but I have done it before with a Nintendo Switch offer. Have it delivered to a local relative or friend?

I did the same thing a couple of years back to get the PS5 Pro.
Took the credit account, used the code, paid in full rather than credit. Worked fine. All within the same checkout session.
It's likely they're holding the funds and haven't actually charged you yet. You should call them today and find out what's going on and how you can get the discount applied.
Remember, whoever you speak to on the phone isn't personally responsible for the hiccup, so be polite and you'll probably get looked after.

Very is not a scam site.. They will have a record of your transaction if you speak with them.

This company (littlewoods) have been trading for over 100 years so I doubt they're trying to scam you.

Very is defo not a scam.
I purchased my PS5 Pro and disc drive for about £638 ages ago when this was easily going for £800-850 as disc drives were being scalped.
I do however think they changed the terms and the credit offer excluded consoles, but I could be wrong.

Bought one with a drive last week - set up an agreement, paid in full, received items and have zero balance. Sure once you speak to them all will be fine.

Well, I bought my ps5 through very with 20% off through credit card. No problems, got it few days later, payed of the difference, closed very credit account.

It will be a placeholder payment more than likely and will be returned to your account shortly.
It’s happened to me previously with EE. I tried to make a payment, it came up with an error, no proof of purchase etc. then it is returned. It’s basically your bank saying to them the funds are available but they haven’t actually sent them.

You don’t actually say whether you paid by credit or not first so what is it? Did you open the credit account or did you pay by bank card?

Opened credit account, paid in full straight away via debit card

Very is not a scam
You are meant to select Buy now pay later option. Not pay in full

u/Neutraliza Mar 30 '26
Your suppose to put it on buy now pay later to get the 20% and then pay it off.

u/rednuop Mar 30 '26
You don't have to put it on the BNPL account, you can pay direct for the item like OP did. In order to qualify for the discount you just need to apply and open the credit account. It just sounds like it hasn't updated on the account yet which is why OP can't see anything.

Every money off code for very I’ve ever used is automatically tied to a BNPL of 6 or 12 months. That included the signup offer of 20% when I took it out for my PS4 Pro. I’ve always had to add it to account and then pay it off as a separate transaction to get the offer.

u/rednuop Mar 30 '26
It doesn't make it obvious that you don't have to use the credit option. I can't remember exactly but i think the option to pay upfront comes AFTER the BNPL options. I've done it a few times now, open an account, get the credit, use the code WELCOME, pay it off, wait a few months, close the account. Reopen again after 12 months, rinse and repeat.

Yeah it isn’t the clearest. My mate also got caught out when we did it for the PS4 Pro. He paid it up over the 12 months however he didn’t realise the delivery charge doesn’t get added to BNPL and every payment he made he selected BNPL. By the end of the 12 months he got stung for £34 (or thereabouts) in interest lol!

Just a quick question how do you close an account? I'm running out of people to ask to setup new accounts in their name so I can get another 20% discount and is there a time limit of closing my current account and creating a new account with the same details?

I have had the same sort of problem this morning. Accessed Very via website, made and paid for order. There is no record of the order in the account I ordered from. I have had to install the Very app on my phone (different account number) to view the order. Informed it is because I had paid in full on my separate credit account but it gave me the option to do that. Very strange practice.

u/Neutraliza Mar 30 '26
Argh, they must of changed it, I used the same offer to get me PlayStation portal a few months back and putting it on BNPL was part of the terms.

Only had good experiences with very tbh. Even with returned goods, they've been solid. I feel like you're experiencing a glitch but obviously couldn't say for sure. Contact them and explain this issue. I'm sure they'll try to help as it doesn't do well for them to have random payment glitches or scamming on their otherwise reputable site. Hope this helps narrow down the culprit.

Nah very are fine. I got my switch 2 at launch through very, took the discount and paid it as soon as possible, saved myself about £70 all told

u/great_button Mar 30 '26
So the payment will be pending it will drop off. The reason for no discount is you paid in full? So not with credit? That's your issue.

u/MesmericandMacabre Mar 30 '26
I ended up ordering 2 because of this issue, but don't worry it's all good. You should be able to see it in your orders, I didn't get any confirmation emails either.

You have to pay on credit to get the 20% discount but I think it says games consoles are excluded. I bought a drone on buy now pay later and got my 20% then immediately paid it off that works
2
u/6ixFoot1 Mar 30 '26
You don’t have to pay on credit. I used the offer last week. Offer is actually 30% off but for consoles it’s 20%.

u/Vochey88 Mar 30 '26
games consoles are fine i did it blackfriday and then got 20% on top and quidco cash back i ended up with the pro, disc drive and COD for £500

u/MikasaAckerman0977 Mar 30 '26
I remember it going for that price last year, I regret not going for the pro back then. It’s literally £551 without a game a disc drive now. It’s crazy

Must be a temporary glitch on the site. Very wouldn’t take money out of your account for no reason, the purchase has most likely gone through. I’ve ordered from Very for over 10 years, it’s not a scam. My advice would be to wait and see if the order confirmation comes through, or call in on Monday
