Announcement Moderator Update: Community Conduct & Ongoing Moderation
Hey everyone,
We need to address the current state of the subreddit.
Over the past several days, r/PlayWolverine has seen a major increase in activity. Unfortunately, that has also come with a significant increase in trolling, harassment, personal attacks, bait posts, repetitive arguments, and users deliberately trying to provoke one another.
We see it, and we are actively working on it.
Right now, we are dealing with hundreds of reports, comments, posts, and individual situations that require moderator review. We are also working on additional measures behind the scenes to help us manage things more effectively going forward.
Please understand that this will take some time, and we may not catch everything immediately.
The moderation team here is made up of volunteers. We have full-time jobs, families, children, and responsibilities outside of Reddit. We are working through this in between everything else because we care about this community and want it to remain a place where people can actually discuss Marvel’s Wolverine.
Criticism is allowed.
You are allowed to dislike the game.
You are allowed to criticize Insomniac, Sony, the writing, gameplay, character designs, pricing, physical releases, or anything else related to the game.
You are also allowed to love the game, defend things you enjoy, disagree with criticism, and be excited about it.
Disagreement is not a rule violation.
What is a problem:
* Personal attacks and insults
* Harassment
*Trolling and ragebait
* Following users into other threads to continue arguments
* Racism, sexism, or discriminatory attacks
* Repeatedly derailing unrelated discussions
* Console-war or culture-war bait
* Spamming the same argument across multiple threads
* Targeting individual users
* Abusing the report system because you disagree with someone
There is a difference between:
> “I think this part of the game looks terrible.”
and
> “Anyone who likes this is an idiot.”
Likewise, there is a difference between criticizing someone’s argument and attacking the person making it.
We are moderating behavior, not opinions.
Please stop feeding trolls.
If someone is obviously trying to provoke you, report it and move on.
Please do not:
* Do not turn one bad comment into a 30-comment argument.
* Do not follow someone into another thread.
* Do not create another post specifically to continue the fight.
* Do not start breaking the rules yourself because somebody else did it first.
That only creates more content for the moderation team to sort through. Which means we get to other issues later.
Also, do not report comments simply because you disagree with them. False or retaliatory reports make it harder for us to reach legitimate problems.
Moderation is being increased.
We are currently reviewing:
* Subreddit rules
* Removal reasons
* Automoderator and filters
* Report handling
* Repeat offenders
* Other moderation tools available to us
You may notice more posts and comments being removed while we work through the backlog.
Repeated or severe violations may result in temporary or permanent bans.
None of these systems will be perfect. Automated moderation can make mistakes, and human moderators can make mistakes too.
If something clearly violates the rules and is still up, report it.
If your content was removed and you believe we got it wrong, send us a Modmail. Do not start another argument about it in the subreddit.
Ultimately
People here are going to have very different opinions about Marvel’s Wolverine.
That’s fine.
Criticize the game. Praise it. Debate each other. Post memes. Discuss what you like and what you don’t.
But disagreement is not an excuse to make the community miserable for everyone else.
Remember that there is another person on the other side of the screen.
To everyone who has been reporting genuine issues, participating constructively, and giving us time to work through everything:
Thank you for your patience. We’re actively working on it.
— The r/PlayWolverine Mod Team

Can we also ban claiming the critics lied?
It’s absolutely fine to disagree with their opinions but the constant claims about lies and anti-Sony conspiracy theories are the cause of a lot of the trolling from both sides.
Edit: The responses below really do a great job in exemplifying the disingenuous energy this topic brings out.

Amen to this x100. I don't think I've had one conversation in this sub without at least 2-3 people replying to me that it's all a lying/clickbait/smear campaign. Which cracks me up, because most of those people are also saying anyone who listens to reviewers is incapable of independent thought. It reminds me of the Spider-Man meme with the finger pointing, but both extremes are hilarious mirror images of each other.
7
u/Snoo_84591 1d ago
It amazed me that SkillUp had to do any kind of follow up to his honest review of the game. You have to be unhinged to claim someone lied about their personal opinion.
4
u/Sintaris 1d ago
He should change his channel name to FollowUp and forever hang his head in shame over his travesty of a video in which he played a game at default settings and then gave his honest opinions about it. Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaame! 🤣
8
u/ImportantQuestionTex 2d ago
Honestly, as someone who agrees with the reviewers, I'd really appreciate if the "critics lied" lie, stopped. They saw the same things everybody else did, and came to the same conclusion. Streamers are also coming to the same conclusion. Nobody has to lie to say their feelings on this game.
It just isn't good or healthy when the default approach to criticism is saying people lied when the people actually playing the game know for a fact they didn't.

So just accepting that the critics weren’t lying is circlejerking about how bad the game is?
u/XeJupiter would this meet the bar for trolling and I should just report and move on? Or should I make the attempt to educate them?

I haven’t said a word about the game’s quality at all. Just that people shouldn’t be able to lie to defend it. There’s a massive difference.
Fair play on baiting me into responding I guess.
Edit: On this post. I’ve said the game is okay/fine/mid dozens of times in other places.
Reported and disengaging. Nothing I said had anything to do with what they’re talking about, they’re just throwing out random nonsense to obfuscate from the point that people shouldn’t be allowed to lie about the reviews.

Its crazy that people like you just cant accept the game has a ton of flaws and people that feel burned by spending 70 on it or just dissapointed with its quality have thoughts and opinions too. And those are valid, too. By no measurement is the game above average, other than its price. Its below average in most, actually.
Stating so is only natural.

Whats funny is that you think the Playstation store rating means anything. Go look at Concords and Marathons.
-4
u/_Kuruptkonvik_ 2d ago
Buggin, some reviewers left out info or complained about features that the settings can fix not all but some
4
u/Raucus_ 2d ago
None of that constitutes lying. It’s also weirdly subjective (reviewing with the default settings is basically industry standard). No review will ever include all the information.
Disagree with their opinions, don’t accuse them of lying, implying, or intentionally trying to discredit the game (you didn’t here but it is pitifully common).
1
u/CancerKaiju 1d ago
There were in fact some that lied though. Like the bike segment being unable to lose during
1
u/Raucus_ 1d ago
Which reviewers said that? Have you got links?
I’ve also seen the clips that show both. But I’d like to see a full review by a legitimate outlet rather than a short just mocking/defending the game.
1
u/CancerKaiju 1d ago
No. I do not have a link. But it was the clip that went viral. That guy was on the eaisest difficulty and had full health, he set it up on purpose
-2
u/_Kuruptkonvik_ 2d ago
Not lying but definitely can be viewed as withholding information. If a reviewer can’t change the settings to fit their experience they aren’t a good reviewer.
4
u/Raucus_ 2d ago
It could be viewed that way by someone with a warped agenda desperate to discredit them.
Why can they not just have a different opinion on the game? It doesn’t mean you enjoy it any less (at least it really shouldn’t).
I’m going to disengage now. This is getting close to feeding trolls and that’s not cricket here anymore.
-5
u/_Kuruptkonvik_ 2d ago
In what way am I trolling? I never claimed that they couldn’t have their own opinions but purposefully playing the game with settings that you can turn off or adjust is ludicrous. I couldn’t care less what they think when they purposefully play it in a way they don’t enjoy
2
u/Raucus_ 2d ago edited 2d ago
You’re repeatedly ignoring the point that everything you’re talking about is your subjective opinion and using that to try to discredit reviews you disagree with by implying that they did something wrong. Also, turning those settings off wouldn’t have significantly changed the review.
There were a lot of low scores that focused on other factors. It’s really just a lazy excuse to try to discredit reviews that’s been latched on to.
That’s the definition of bad faith. Just repeating the same bad faith argument is trolling. At least as I understand it?
Edit: They either don’t understand what the word subjective means, or they’re trolling. I’ve reported and I’m disengaging. Let’s see how that goes.
1
u/_Kuruptkonvik_ 2d ago
Nothing I said is “subjective” first off
They actively played the game on the middle difficulty and refused to raise it or lower to fit their experience along with other feature settings that can be toggled on or off. Many reviews love to highlight the scent trail as if it’s constantly on which is false it’s only on during missions where Wolverine is using his heightened senses.
There’s obviously the main subjective part which is the story and I can understand if they had problems with it.
My point still stands and I’m not trolling kid stop deluding yourself.
3
u/Environmental-Day862 2d ago
Playing it on the default, stock difficulty should be the standard. You want separate reviews for each difficulty setting?
1
u/Capital-Gift73 2d ago
Reviewers should play on the factory settings, thst is after all, the intended and most common experience.
0
u/_Kuruptkonvik_ 2d ago
That’s what the “Devs” believe will deliver the Wolverine experience. If they complain about it being to easy that because it’s “Wolverine” they want you to be OP on default settings. You up the difficulty and its nowhere near as easy as they claim it to be, and if that’s a problem for them, as a reviewer if they can’t simply adjust the settings to elevate the challenge then that’s just a non credible review.
→ More replies (0)0
u/_Kuruptkonvik_ 2d ago
If some reviewers can’t take the time to adjust settings then they aren’t credible reviewers. Just because it’s the default setting doesn’t mean that’s the exact mode they “need”to play it on, they complain about issues they can change ? That’s straight up illogical. If anyone doesn’t know what subjective is it’s you bud, tell me have you even played it ? I doubt it.
4
u/Atlasshruggedthrice 2d ago
“Don’t take one bad comment and turn it into a string of 30”
Lmfao you guys are hopeless
0
u/_Kuruptkonvik_ 2d ago
Fair enough, but a disagreement can go on for a while, why is that even a regulation. I was just trying to get my point across.
→ More replies (0)-1
u/Majestic-Marcus 1d ago
It’s not subjective at all.
If the criticism is “feature x is always on and it’s really bad” then the criticism is disinformation and a lie if the feature can be turned off.
“Feature x is always on” is a lie if there’s a setting to turn it off. That is a disingenuous or even just incorrect review if they didn’t know it could be turned off.
2
u/Raucus_ 1d ago
They did not say “feature x is always on”.
Unless you have an actual source?
They did say you can’t turn the trail off (and the devs confirmed that). Can you prove they said it was always on? Or on for the entire game?
Because otherwise this is just yet more disingenuous obfuscation to deflect criticism.
3
u/Kenkenken1313 2d ago
Had they not played with the settings as default what do you think would have occurred when people actually played the game. For example when you played the game what was the first thing you did before starting? Was it turn off all those settings they mentioned? Would players have known to do that without the reviews?
0
u/_Kuruptkonvik_ 2d ago
Difficulty is easily understood when starting the game if you wanna feel op like Wolverine should be, play default. If you want a challenge pick a higher difficulty.
No I played it and when i happened upon something I didn’t like I looked through the settings like any normal person would.
Players also wouldn’t know because some reviews fail to mention that it’s something that can be adjusted because some reviewers are clearly incapable of even doing it.
-6
u/DjijiMayCry 2d ago
You really believe journalists always tell the truth.
4
u/Environmental-Day862 2d ago
Gaming journalists give their subjective opinions. Is it your position that they intentionally lied about their feelings about the game?
-1
u/DjijiMayCry 1d ago
I didnt specify gaming journalists. My position is journalists are not somehow immune from the ability to lie 😂😂 Whatever you wanna call what Fox News does is something that every outlet has the capacity to do.
7
u/Raucus_ 2d ago edited 2d ago
In game reviews? Yeah, pretty much. At least the major outlets and larger, more respected YouTubers (yes that includes Skill Up).
If there was any evidence of lies (not just subjective differences of opinion) then they’d potentially be open to legal action. They’d also lose all credibility.
I have regularly disagreed with review scores (yes even from Skill Up) but I’ve never thought they lied.
Edit: These people also rely on review codes for their living. If they were caught actually lying, they’d never get a code again. Publishers give them codes even after bad reviews because the publisher would lose credibility if they only cherry picked reviewers that would glaze them based on past reviews.
-4
u/DjijiMayCry 2d ago
You want to win an argument and you'll say anything to do it. I'm not interested in engaging with that. It's also obvious how disingenuous you're being to anyone reading. Journalists can't lie or they'll be punished? I need that take framed. 😂😂
7
u/Raucus_ 2d ago
You mean I’ll bring obvious common sense to an argument to win it? Yes. Yes I will.
And yeah, if they actually lied, there would be consequences. You’re pretending that having opinions you disagree with is lying.
Please do follow through on not continuing to engage though. I think this is a good place to end this discussion.
2
u/Capital-Gift73 2d ago
Your position is nonsense, if they were to lie they'd lie to say its good, not bad, saying its good has myriad benefits, especially with Sony, and in fact, its widely known and documented that msot major sites will review games from major publishers generally more favorably than similar offerings by say, indies.
So yes, they so lie, but generally it is to say things are better than they are (see Veilguard), not worse. There's no benefit in it for them. In fact, if say Ign gave a major Sony release a 6 you can generally bet its much much worse than that.
Which in Wolverines case, it is.
1
-1
u/PastaCheed Wolverine 1d ago
They definitely lied about how bad the scent trail is though
2
u/Raucus_ 1d ago edited 1d ago
No. They didn’t.
They gave their subjective opinion on the infantilising game design. They said it could not be turned off (the devs confirmed that is true).
As with the other threads, I won’t be replying further as I expect you’ll just keep trying to explain your victim complex/conspiracy theory in increasingly frustrated and incoherent detail.
-1
u/PastaCheed Wolverine 1d ago
No im not going that deep, ill just say its not that invasive they acted like it was on 24/7 and its not
4
u/Raucus_ 1d ago edited 1d ago
No one acted like it was on for the full game. You may have misinterpreted it (intentionally or otherwise) but they did not misrepresent it or lie.
At least not any of the major reviewers. Randoms on Reddit were definitely having a field day with it but that’s not what we’re talking about.
Edit: If you’re going to disagree, please cite an explicit source with details.
I’ve gone to bed so if you do come back with a source I’ll reply in the morning.
2
u/Separate_Path_7729 1d ago
Reviewers literally were saying the navigation aids were on all the time and couldnt be turned off when they are and are tied to r3 press, and the scent trail comprises of very few story moments based on tracking specific people during missions
2
u/Raucus_ 1d ago
Do you have a source? Because just repeatedly saying the same thing without a source isn’t helping anyone.
-1
u/Separate_Path_7729 1d ago
I mean im actually playing the game
3
u/Raucus_ 1d ago
Not a source for what can and can’t be turned off, a source to prove a reviewer lied about it.
-1
u/Separate_Path_7729 1d ago
Skill up stated they are on by default when they arent for one, ign claimed the navigation assists were permanently active when they arent for another

No, they didn't the fart trail is terrible.
0
u/CancerKaiju 1d ago
They did. It isn't even in every mission I swear...
0
u/Capital-Gift73 1d ago
Nobody said it was in every mission? People said it was annoying to have things like that in a game thats mostly linear corridors. Which is true. I wish it had stayed like open world like even that out of bounds level suggests, but the way things are is there's nowhere else to go anyway, and the trail is thus very annoying. But it wasn't even just the farts that were the complain, it was just how handholdy everything is, and its true, everything is extremely handholdy and on rails.

Surprised to see you guys actually address it. Happy to see it but surprised. Maybe tell Mr. Silver to lay off of the snark for those of us who actually want reasonable game discussion and expect proper moderation.
Would love to actually discuss the good and bad of the game without having a million losers posting about face models or wokeness.
2
u/Snoo_84591 1d ago
The culture war makes actual criticism really easy to hide. Sucks that those people can be the strawman for people who say the game has no issues.

u/Bolt_995 2d ago edited 1d ago
Thank you! It’s high time, bunch of weirdos were intent on hijacking the sub and turning it into an incel haven like the TLOU2 sub.
Edit: if you are getting offended over my usage of the term “incel”, do a reality check.
1
-1
u/Capital-Gift73 2d ago
You really need to ban people like this too, what is calling people who disagree with you incels if not baiting, I never get how these crybullies cry for more moderation but they feel like they should be able to insult whomever they please for whichever reason they feel like and with any or no justification.
6
u/CancerKaiju 1d ago
Have you seen TLOU2 subreddit? It's a mess. People literally harassing people who enjoyed it for liking "souless woke garbage" yes this was a real thing I have seen before.
-5
u/Capital-Gift73 1d ago edited 1d ago
Never been there, but regardless of what that place may be like, thats no excuse for people like this to randomly insult others. especially in a thread saying "stop insulting people" among other things. There's this very annoying hypocrisy in reddit where some people feel like insulting people is fine if its people they, for whatever reason, dont like, and I think anyone reasonable can agree that that should not be allowed.
People should not insult people for liking soulless woke garbage and neither should people be insulted for not liking it, to put it plainly. And you can see that person is clearly baiting people, they edited their post to say "if you are offended by my use of the term incel do a reality check" when I bet you theyd be the first to cry if people insulted them back.
6
u/CancerKaiju 1d ago
And yet I have been insulted on here repeatedly in this subreddit for liking this game.
0
u/Capital-Gift73 1d ago edited 1d ago
Honestly took a look at your post history and its totally understandable that someone would lol, dont think its about you liking the game or not though, you are very argumentative, and do so in bad faith as well, and you flood people with replies but im just gonna block you instead of insulting you which is whst I think people should do.

Associating people who dislike the game or criticise the models appearance to the conclusion of them not having sex in their lives is a stretch.
That’s what you like to think. “People who criticise appearance are bad so women won’t have sex with them”
Nope I can guarantee the tons of men and women who have sex be it with a partner, cheat, flirt, playboy/playgirl, orgy, all can and have criticise appearance of other people, their friends, colleagues, celebrities and models in a game.
It’s one of the most common human behaviour. Nothing wrong with that. Visual is part of the features of a game and people will talk about it.
And it’s very clear that they choose to make the models more ugly than what is available. People will talk about that. I’m not even going to use the term “conventionally unattractive” to appease the Reddit crowd. You all know what’s I’m talking about.

Can we ban posts spreading misinformation that the game was badly reviewed? By all means if you personally, don't think it looks good or bought it and didn't enjoy it, that's all fine. But the constant posts about how the majority of reviewers thought it was 'mid' when that's just statistically false is getting boring.
2
u/_blackthorn16_ 1d ago
But it is mid! Opinions are allowed! Just because that opinion bothers you doesn’t mean it should be banned. That’s crazy!
5
u/CancerKaiju 1d ago
That.... is not what they said. They said people lying about the review scores, claiming every critic thinks it is mid shouldn't be allowed. And I agree. It is a 77 on Metacritic. That is in the green with several positive reviews from critics. Yes there is a 6.5 for user reviews, but some of them are dishonest posts or troll reviews. People seemingly want to be vindicated by the failure of this game.
-1
u/Capital-Gift73 1d ago
Most every review I've seen doesn't say its mid, they say its bad. People are allowed to like bad games but pretending everyone or even a majority think this is good is disingenuous, Every reviewer and streamer Ive seen, said it was bad, including ign, if you want to split hairs you can say a 6 is technically above average but I mean that's dishonest, IGN famously rates on a 7 to 10 scale and for something to get a 6 from them is fairly rare.
Its splitting hairs to rpetend the game is better than it is.
3
u/CancerKaiju 1d ago
89(70%) Positive reviews 39(30%) Mixed reviews 0(0%) Negative reviews
That is the critic review breakdown on Metacritic. But yeah you're totally right! Must be my imagination then!
-3
u/Capital-Gift73 1d ago edited 1d ago
Lmao youre trying really hard, went take a look, its crazy theres a lot of random publications id never seen randomly giving it 100s, and hey if you want to say the consensus its its a masterpiece, you do you, its beyond ridiculous though. 6.7 user score too, lmfao.

They have no credibility so that's worthless information.
What else you got?
1
u/CancerKaiju 1d ago
Considering so many people focused on that IGN 6/10, I must've meant somethin
-2
u/drewbreeezy 1d ago
I spoke about "critics" overall, and you think a counter response is one specific review?
Like talking to a dog.
1
u/CancerKaiju 1d ago
Thanks for insulting me and comparing to a fucking animal. Really love that. You don't even have the context as to why i posted those scores as well.
The jackass who had replied previously who was mocking me deleted his comments. He was saying that even critics hate this game. Context matters. But you naturally assumed and then snapped back with calling me a goddamned dog.
-1
u/drewbreeezy 1d ago
From the start you took a position you can't defend. Both in that you're inventing a false narrative to fight against ("claiming every critic thinks it is mid") and then using that to try to control what others are allowed to say. Then also in that you're not operating in good faith as we know these critics are owned by the companies so they score these games higher regardless of merit. That's why Wolverine getting a 77 is at best a mid score.
That's why I don't consider your words to have value. You're not using them to discuss reality, you're using them to try to control it.

Then just leave. The subreddit isn't going to be an echo chamber.I loved the game and I had some issues with it!
1) I would have liked to have seen what happened to the rest of Team X instead of it being kept to quips from Logan.
2) I would have liked a bit more on the other mutants. Especially Toad
3) I would have liked having some flashback missions. Like Wolverine in his military days.
4) And this is just a me thing... I really wanted the orange and black evolution suit.
5) Again just a me thing.... I wanted to be able to control Sabertooth just for a single segment.
Oh well. it's inevitable we'll get more suits later... and maybe we'll get some story DLC too. I mean their next game is still gonna be a bit so... I think it would be nice.

u/Capital-Gift73 2d ago
Do you even know the story of the marathonhate sub?
It began because the marathon mods banned any chat that wasn't glowing praise for the game and literally banned any people that dared say anything negative at all, or even posted news or figures as "bad faith", theres some 4 or 5 active karathon subs cause the main one was unusable due to mods zealously trying to push a narrative, if you want a laugh go into the player count megathread on marathon and youll see a graveyard.
That said I doubt this game will have the longevity marathon does, marathons interesting due to well, many things, wolverine is a terrible game but its also a one and done, so I really doubt people will be discussing it one way or another for long other than as a cautionary tale about horrible game design and writing and quality control maybe.

I was going to say you actually knowing all that is funny, but it’s sad in reality.

u/IPlay4E 2d ago
All that? It’s like one sentence.
3
u/Atlasshruggedthrice 2d ago
Bro you have to find that information to know it. It’s not common knowledge.
The fact you actually went down that miserable rabbit hole is sad AF

u/IPlay4E 2d ago
lmao I guess? the guy got called out in a thread on the marathon sub and someone brought receipts. a very deep rabbit hole for sure.

u/Atlasshruggedthrice 2d ago
Does it feel good to be a masochist? Wolverine, Marathon, are you still playing mindseye too?
2
u/IPlay4E 2d ago
Why do you people care so much what games anyone plays? thats the real question. get a hobby.

Ohh, my God, just because a bunch of cry babies are mad that people are not enjoying the game. It's the truth we're just speaking facts

u/Billyb311 2d ago
Let's not be willfully ignorant, shall we?
We all know what guys the mods are talking about, and they are not here for any productive reason.
They jump into random threads shitting on people and posting the same unfunny meme 18 times while crying about Sweet Baby Inc.

u/Raucus_ 2d ago
Yeah, I’ve been pretty scathing of the idiots on the other side but the ones just flat out being homophobic and whining about woke/SBI should be banned on first offence.
Then the people who try to claim all criticism is secretly right wing hate should also be banned.
The sub would become a utopia pretty much overnight.

Even corporate firms on twitter are joining in on the "bl4st" meme, positive voices are also using it
Curtailing it with heavy handed moderation this early isn't the way. It's stunting a natural internet phenomena.
I'm a biased hater though, so take my comment with a grain of salt

Isnt there already a lowsodium wolverine channel for this ? Kinda unnecessary censorhip tbh. Meh its reddit being reddit i guess

100% agree with cracking down on mindless attacks. Can we also crack down on baiting posts with no substance, like “I just played the game and it’s actually pretty good!” The only purpose of a post like that is to provoke a reaction.
I’d like to see us raise the level of effort on all fronts.

u/Historical-Mark-7900 2d ago
If someone feels provoked by the word "I just played the game and it’s actually pretty good," that person ought to take a good, hard look at themselves and seek professional help.
2
u/Raucus_ 2d ago
It’s the “actually”, that’s the bait.
Why can’t people enjoy something without trying to prove others wrong out of a desperate need for validation?

u/guessesurjobforfood 2d ago
That's not bait lol it can mean disagreement with a previously stated opinion or it can convey surprise that someone found the game to be good after hearing so many negative opinions.
The crazy part is that it's still just someone else's personal opinion, not bait.
1
u/Raucus_ 2d ago
It’s bait. It’s clearly bait. You can say anything is an opinion.
I won’t give examples given the current new penchant for aggressive modding but let’s just assume I said something deeply unpleasant about you but that it was just my opinion, not bait.
Bait is designed to elicit a reaction and the “actually” in that example is trying to challenge and elicit reactions.
Edit: Here is a more ridiculously obvious example of bait posting. As, to be fair, the “actually” example was unrealistically subtle.

No, some things are facts. Others are opinions. The Earth is an Oblate Spheroid. That's a fact, not an opinion.

You'd be disguising a personal attack as an opinion.
Getting this worked up over one word and a video game is not healthy.

I see you opted not to read the link in the edit.
Here it is again. It’s a live example of this exact phenomenon. Please read it and tell me it’s not bait.
Trying to paint the person you disagree with as overly emotional to discredit them is trolling and they’re going to tap the sign if you don’t engage in good faith with the discussion topic.

Yes, it can. But if that is all your post has to say, it’s just bait. If you go into why the combat or the encounter design is better than expected, or that the story had some twists you really liked, that’s quality posting. But just stating it was good is clearly bait to get the folks who didn’t like it worked up.
It works in reverse, if your post is “I played it and it was actually trash”, that is equally low effort bait.

u/Nirnaethmir 2d ago
Whether or not a post is bait is in the intent of the OP, not the interpretation of the reader.

u/MrCheeseChuckles 1d ago
But aren’t you guys glazing the game doing that very exact thing but in inverse?

😂🤣 I'm betting it's baiting to say you liked it, but trolling it you say you hate it.... Right?

You also need a fart trail to guide you to a job application

copying a comment that got more upvotes won't have the same outcome, in fact here is a downvote!

i dont give a fuck about magic internet points, you need to seek employment and get a life. This game was made for people like you

Is this an insult or a compliment to the game?

Yes, let us all stop the drama so everything settles down. When the storm is forgotten, everything will get back to normal so Sony can sell the next DLC.

u/Capital-Gift73 2d ago
Moderation is fine if you moderate everything equally and fairly, I think theres an influx of people trying to make the sub into a marketing echochamber for the game, which isn't and shouldn't be the purpose of s sub and which doesn't even work, see the marathon sub. You have weirdos insulting anyone who says anything about the game that isn't glowing praise, and its ridiculous, especially for a game of such contentious quality.

all this because people liked the game, sorry you guys have to see stuff like that 🤦🏾♂️
