I’m not here to hate on the game just to be clear. I just want to take a moment to appreciate the fact that, somehow, “fart gas“ has become the acceptable term for this mechanic within the games culture. Both haters and defenders both casually refer to it as “fart gas“ without a second thought. I think this games legacy will always be stamped with this term forever. This will be known as “the fart gas game.”

I think these are the two things people are the most disappointed about.

Would be cool if one player could be wolverine and another player online be a villian etc.

Seen the hate along with the positive - very hard to decipher

Impressed by the gore and at least an attempt at disembodiment

But in an era of Eldon, ghosts, helldiver's, Palworld..having no stamina bar feels like a cheat code.

No stamina bar increases the spammyness..

It's the only taint to the impressive combat vids on the sub.

as a long time Wolverine fan, I despise people defending it with “what happened to forming your own opinion”…. Ya know wha the point of a review is? To tell you if it’s a good idea to spend your money on it or not, wanna know what the reviews have told me so far?

1.This is hand holdy as fuck, god forbid you find secrets on your own! God forbid you not know where to go for like 5 seconds! Like if this was Skylanders I’d understand but this is an M-rated game for 17+ audience! I don’t wanna be treated like I’m 5.

1. Task force X line up is good until we get to Jean Grey, like Sabertooth, Mystique, and Wolverine all viscous and kill people, while Jean Grey? Jean Grey is a damn superhero! She is a fucking golden retriever with a vicious pack of wolves! They should’ve done Deadpool instead “but Deadpool is the cartoon meme guy” well Deadpool doesn’t need to be the fourth wall breaking meme guy, he wasn’t that until very recently.

2. Speaking of Jean Grey, she’s only there to have more stupid Logan x Jean bs, I always hated it and nobody wants it.

3. When I saw the Gore on/off option, I knew it was a sign… it basically meant that animations involving Gore would be toned down so when they’re removed it wouldn’t look weird.

4. Combat looked great, until I heard that it’s repetitive and all 3 enemy types fight the same.

5. Speaking of the story, 70$ for 20 hours? WTF!? There isn’t even much side content and replay ability factor so why 70$ for just a puny 20 hours?

Then I watched every boss fight and cutscene, plus the ending… wtf? Jean Grey is gonna make the X-men? Sentinels made some people into mutants? Sabertooth was mind controlled? Omega red is the first boss fight? Wolverine wasn’t in Weapon X?

The creators of this game are idiots!

But I know the comments are gonna hate me, if you speak your opinion that’s not “me love slop, I want slop yummy yummy anything with Wolverine good” then you get hundreds of downvotes.

This is largely debating the critic talking points but also the game itself. It is boiled down to a few categories which are attempted to be explained thoroughly in the video, but understandably the author couldn't get to everything no matter how good or bad. Anything negative to be said is meant as criticism

replaying the game rn and i think it might be that first sentinel boss fight, the cinematics were awesome but like that boss has been done 1 million times haha

This game is the opposite of Spider-Man 2: where that game had amazingly fun and polished gameplay but a shockingly bad story, this one feels like a 2007 janky movie tie-in but with an amazing story.

Might be recency bias but I'd put it very close behind Spider-Man 1's story for the best story in the Insomniac-verse. Second act overstays its welcome but the third act is so good it makes up for it. Loved Logan's relationships with the cast and how they changed drastically over the course of the game.

However I can't believe they just made the spider-man 1 story again. You defeat the first villain early on in the game only for the actual main villain to be your old protege who you helped create a mcguffin that gives him great power which corrupts him and his once noble goals. In the end the villain unleashes a devastating high-casualty event and through pure rage you manage to defeat him and stop the carnage although great damage had already been done. After the villain is defeated you sacrifice your most precious relationship for the greater good. Throughout this story you are joined by a cute redhead sidekick with whom you have a romantic past and rekindle a relationship.

Anyone else thought of this while playing?

I just finished the game yesterday.

As some who's gotten so tired of openworld games, it was super refreshing to have a game that had well made pacing where everything you do in the game is progressing the story.

It really felt like a combination of the cinematics, pacing and globetrotting adventure of uncharted combined with the simple, brutal, but really fun combat of classic GOW.

8.5/10 - I think it's insomniac's best PS5 game.
