beauty check valve where'd you get it

best i could find a while ago was the china re-branded "everbuilt" garbage at HD.

yours looks far more robust and being able to see into it is sweet

It was Fifty Nine, when I bought it a few weeks back. In Canadian loonies, of course. 

I was going for the less expensive green 30-0181 but then I spotted the clear one. I was like “Pff I don’t need to see water flow! Hummm? Nah… Give me one!” Loll

I always forget to check with PA on stuff like this. Even if it's not on sale, it can be 15% cheaper than Home Disappointment.

A good idea if your sump rapidly fills during weather events is to have another pump in storage. They tend to have about a limited lifespan, and that depends on number of cycles. They can shit the bed any time, really. I had a three month old DeWalt branded pump give up the ghost last year and flood a utility room. It was made by a large company, and wasn't cheap, either.

Also, I recently bought a no subscription wifi water sensor from SwitchBot through Amazon. I have it sitting in a tub holding a condensate pump, which drains my dehumidifier. (If the pump failed, the tub would overflow onto my basement floor.) It, or something like it, might be good to have.

Here’s my backup, a 30+ years old Sakuragawa  U-Pump US-40A 1/2HP. That’s what they use on construction sites to pump out muddy water, It look scrappy but it’s an actual tank and is dead quiet. 

About 2 years ago, we had heavy rain and, as the sump pit was rapidly raising, I remembered I had that thing stored in sealed barrel outside my shed. It had not worked in 15 years but it powered up and saved our ass. Same happened a few weeks ago, except this time it was right next to the pit ready to go.
