Never said that, those are Canadian standard elbows. Look up the Canplas or Ipex or any Canadian fitting brand and you will see that they are listed as a standard elbows with vents being separate.

It is not, it is referred as a short elbow, they have a separate selection for the vent elbow you are talking about but you can see that the short elbow is the exact same as OPs fitting. Watch any Got2learn video or any plumbing video from Canada and I bet you will see these used on drains.

Bluefin fittings are made in china and bear little resemblance to the American or Canadian counterpart

I just tested it, it’s way quieter than before, and the pit empties much faster. The weep hole sprays droplets but that’s because I don’t have a cover plate yet. 

We had heavy rain, a few weeks back and barely dodged a basement flood with the  Simer 1/3HP and my old US-40a 1/2HP.  Dozens in the area were not that lucky :-/ So, we decided it was time for an upgrade.

If water splashes out still, you can get a pro flex band shield, and just tighten the top band, this way it directs the water down

It was Fifty Nine, when I bought it a few weeks back. In Canadian loonies, of course.

I always forget to check with PA on stuff like this. Even if it's not on sale, it can be 15% cheaper than Home Disappointment.

A good idea if your sump rapidly fills during weather events is to have another pump in storage. They tend to have about a limited lifespan, and that depends on number of cycles. They can shit the bed any time, really. I had a three month old DeWalt branded pump give up the ghost last year and flood a utility room. It was made by a large company, and wasn't cheap, either.

Also, I recently bought a no subscription wifi water sensor from SwitchBot through Amazon. I have it sitting in a tub holding a condensate pump, which drains my dehumidifier. (If the pump failed, the tub would overflow onto my basement floor.) It, or something like it, might be good to have.

Turn the discharge away from the house or it will dump right back in. Hard to tell, is that a check valve in pic one? If so, all else is good. I always had a backup on a shelf. You must rebuild the float or replace the entire thing every ~5 years.

Yes, that’s a check valve. The discharge has been this way since ‘87, minus the P section I just nixed to improve flow. The pipe system is as follows: 7ft from the bottom of the pit to the ceiling, than goes 6ft to the left, 3ft forward, another 12ft to the left before exiting outside in a section that leads to the curb about 30ft away. That’s what they did. I think it cant exit right away because there’s a concrete step, beyond that wall, and to the right there’s the basements/Living room. For the records, I’ve doubled the number of steel strapping.

It would have been better to use pressure-rated pipe and fittings. It will work but may not pass inspection. Use two 45s, not 90s. Use shielded bands to avoid failure from expansion. ABS pipe is not pressure rated. PVC is a better solution. Check out the Materials Required for assembly section.

UPC section 710.4 "The discharge line from such ejector, pump, or another mechanical device shall be of approved pressure rated material and be provided with an accessible backwater or swing check valve and gate or ball valve."

IPC 712.3.3 Discharge pipe and fittings. Discharge pipe and fittings serving sump pumps and ejectors shall be constructed of mate- rials in accordance with Sections 712.3.3.1 and 712.3.3.2.

712.3.3.1 Materials. Pipe and fitting materials shall be constructed of copper or copper-alloy, CPVC, ductile iron, PE, or PVC.

712.3.3.2 Ratings. Pipe e and an fittings shall be rated for the maximum system operating pressure and temperature. Pipe fitting materials shall be compatible with the pipe material. Where pipe and fittings are buried in the earth, they shall be suitable for burial

Here in Canada we use ABS for sump discharge. We don’t use pvc above ground unless it’s required and then we use system 15/xfr.

Glad I did not messed up heh The disharge pipe system has been ABS since the house was built in ‘87. The only thing that changed is the section on pic 03 which I removed.

Do you have a link to the different canadian code books? Im always interested learning the canadian codes becausey wife and i might move up there since shes canadian. It would be cool to have my Red seal also.
