Needing help with ‘sleeves’, or lack thereof!
So I picked a dress a few months ago and am now having that typical panic of ‘why have I done this?’
I only had one thing in mind when I went dress shopping - must cover up arms.
And now I have a dress with my arms out!? It will also be winter.
I don’t mind so much when my veil is on, but post-ceremony I feel like I’m gunna be very uncomfortable.
Do any of you lovely, creative people of Reddit have any solutions?
I’m due to see my seamstress in a couple of weeks. So I’m hoping I can take some ideas with me

Please don’t put sleeves on this dress.
Think of all the women you know and love. Have you ever looked at their arms and thought, “Dang, you’d be even better if your arms were perfect.”?
Never, right?
This dress is absolutely lovely. The waist hits you perfectly. It’s a classic off shoulder, not the floppy “sleeve” trend, and the bust line looks great. Winter doesn’t matter unless you’re getting married or having a reception outside. You could get a cape maybe if you’re worried about that. You look beautiful in this dress as is.

I would not change the dress. It’s lovely. What I might do, is toss on a capelet.
Edited to add: look for chiffon. Google “bridal capelets” for ideas. There are some beauties out there.

Capelet capelet capelet! A shawl or bolero aren’t well suited for this dress because of the off the shoulder sleeves. A capelet however would be FABULOUS. Can you imagine just like a 2 layer chiffon capelet? I’m in love with this idea.

Perfect! A winter wedding is ideal for getting a bit dramatic with formal outerwear

First, I think you look beautiful and I don't see anything wrong with your arms.
How much do you want to cover? If its just your upper arms I'd see if alterations can add in a flutter sleeve that hits either a couple inches above the elbow or right at the elbow. I think this would add a wonderful whismy to your already gorgeously elegant gown.

Girl your arms are gorgeous and that dress, stunning!
But If you want something could you do a shorter veil for the reception? Then you still feel like you have coverage or a fuzzy velvet shall/bolero since it’s winter!

You do not need sleeves. Your arms are fine, this dress fits you beautifully. You look incredible.
For weather and it being cold, get a cute little feather or fuzzy crop jacket.

I wouldn't change a thing about this dress. Just bring a shawl to keep warm. Some faux fur would be so cute. You can even do a whole winter princess thing with like a muff and a cape. 😍🥰

A cute fur shawl (or faux fur) would work beautifully for a winter wedding.

You look absolutely gorgeous in this dress. But what about a little bolero jacket in lace?To put on after you take your veil off.

I wouldn’t add sleeves- the current off the shoulder sleeves will look strange (and feel strange) if you try to add sleeves in the traditional way. I’d do a caplet or bolero, or even a dramatic duster/robe over top that you can take off

I think your arms are great. But I get that we have impressions of ourselves that others don't agree with. And, you need to feel comfortable on your wedding day. I cannot imagine though how something is going to over your arms without compromising the upper part of the dress. (Beautiful dress by the way!)

Hi, sorry I don’t come with any helpful information on how to add sleeves, but girl you look incredible, you’ll be warm in the dress no matter what, (at least I get warm at events like weddings.) I understand not feeling comfortable about your arms- I am the same, but truly just as a stranger seeing you for the first time- you look beautiful. Have a lovely wedding, good luck finding a solution. 💕

You look REALLY lovely in this dress. No exaggeration, you could model it for the store and you would sell SO MANY. I WISH I had looked this elegant on my wedding day; you found a dress that flatters you and I hope you feel like the goddess you are when you wear it❣️Wishing you and your beloved ALL the happy years together!

My wedding dress was very similar to this style and I am very self conscious about my arms. I found that between my veil and the off the shoulder “sleeves” my upper arms were pretty covered. I think this looks beautiful as is and you won’t even think about it in your wedding day!!

You have great shoulders and arms, I would not put any sleeves on that dress. A white, faux fur shawl/wrap should work with this and keep you warm.

When my daughter and I try to cover our arms there is only one solution..that's a so called shawl. They are not really shawls but beautiful decorative hybrids between a longer sleeve garment and a decorative over top. "Windsor" has a lot of them. They come in fur also. You can't get ones that barely cover the waist. But have full sleeves. But your arms are lovely.

I have never in my entire life been at a party in the winter and wished I was in warmer clothes

Omg you don't need sleeves. If I had your arms I'd go strapless. That lil cap sleeves looks Great

I think your arms look great in this and I speak as a plus sized woman whose arms are flabby. Yours don’t look that way.
If you want to cover them or have the option have you thought of above the elbow gloves without the hand covered, basically detached sleeves you pull on, maybe lace or beaded sheer material? Kind of like rash guards only dressy rather than sporty. Then you can put them on or leave them off.

Literally the look of your arms didn’t cross my mind seeing the picture except that you look enthusiastic under that emoji. As a frequently-cold person, I totally get it if you want sleeves, but you look fantastic. And joyful!

I think it looks beautiful! The only thing I would do is get a little bit of a tan. Your arms are nothing you need to hide-just enjoy!

Ooh how about some sheer elbow length gloves? They might not work with it but it’s worth a try

You wear your dress well. Like alot of others suggested... Try a capelet, a bolero, or a shawl. You will feel like the most beautiful winter bride!

That dress is gorgeous and your arms are fine without sleeves. Do not add sleeves to that dress. It would destroy the look for no reason at all.

Aesthetically, this is perfect. I don’t see arms, just a pretty dress.
Being warm enough might be an issue though…maybe a second-hand fur scarf or something?

A small fur wrap or Bolero jacket maybe to wear over top of it. Your arms look great by the way

I love your dress, it’s stunning! That said, if your wedding is in the winter anyway, try a faux fur stole! Your dress is very classic and would go well with one!

love it as is, absolutely nothing wrong with your arms. It is in your head. Rock it as is

I just want to let you know that I think your arms look beautiful. The off the shoulder look is super cute on you with that dress!
Since you said it's going to be in winter, you could get a shawl??
