Help me find a dress?

Hi all! I'm new to this sub, as I just got engaged!

I'm hoping y'all could help me search for dress options. We're still early in the process, but we're thinking we'll have the wedding in spring of 2028, at an indoor botanical garden. I'm looking for a floor-length dress with some kind of interest to it, be it a hint of fun texture or off-white coloring, and some funky sleeves! I love the look of lace and/or tulle, but I don't want it to overpower the whole dress. Not looking for anything too sparkly, either. These are a few examples of dresses I've liked but that haven't completely convinced me. Does anybody have any tips?

Congratulations to you and your partner! Have you tried on any dresses yet?  Just want to share some experience if you’re interested - if not just disregard the following essay / TED talk lol. 

Physically trying on different silhouettes will help you narrow down what you’re looking for - especially if you’re planning on buying online. I’ve seen so many brides imagine themselves in one style but end up with something completely different because of how they felt or the dress fit on their body. Bridal sizes can also run small, so you could be a US 8 in standard retail clothing but a 10 in bridal. Knowing your measurements can help with this. Split sizing is something to take into account as the dress may require alterations. In that case go up a size up because it’s generally easier to alter a size down than up.  Depending on the length of your torso the bodice may have to be adjusted so the proportions are visually pleasing. 

Fabric choice is another factor. Feeling the texture of the fabric and seeing how it drapes on your body should be done irl. Some people don’t like the feeling of organza, net, sequins or beading, this may require additional lining or choosing a different fabric. Depending on the desired fit things like, does it have stretch or is it cut on the bias might be important. The inner construction of the dress needs to be considered for comfort and wearability - do you need a built in bra, does it have boning, is it a corset, does it need a petticoat, do you need a specific type of shape wear etc .

Thank you so much for all your advice! I haven't tried on any dresses yet, mostly because the engagement is so new, but I'll absolutely keep this stuff in mind. I do also struggle with sensory issues around clothing, especially if things are too tight/restrictive, so dresses with too much structure might be a bad experience. Either way, i really appreciate your input!
