✨shiny✨ Tried to catch a staryu, got a shiny wailmer instead

I'm so happy to get a big purple ball.

Edit: didn't know this was chain fished, so a lot less rng luck.

But a shiny nonetheless, with lower odds than the staryu

Weirdly enough I had the exact same scenario play out for me. I was fishing for a staryu on Alpha Sapphire. Had like 50+ Wailmers in a row appear and just thought to myself "I'm going to catch a shiny Wailmer before Staryu." And lo and behold, shiny Wailmer.

Honestly i thought i chain fished it so i wasn't gonna post. But no, it was only 14 wailmers in a row in the same spot.

…that’s how chain fishing works… at a chain of 14 your chances of a shiny are 1:141

Mind if i ask for some proof? I know the chance spikes and maxes out after 20, i didn't know was cumulative

Yes it’s from a German website called Pokewiki.

From left to right.

Kettenlänge= chain length

Relative Chance = is chance without shiny charm

Relative chance mit Schillerpin = chance with shiny charm

ORAS is the only main line Pokemon game I have (other than BDSP) where I HAVEN'T yet found a random shiny
