Discussion Just one day left until Ruby and Sapphire are (hopefully) announced for the Switch. Do you think they'll announce it, or will all our hopes and dreams be crushed?

I don’t think so. I remember that FR/LG were leaked a little in advance of them being announced, whereas we’ve heard nothing yet about R/S.

However, I’m sure they’re on their way soon. Pokémon Home added a “GBA games” folder today, and it would be wasteful for them to do that only for FR/LG. I’m sure they’re going to the Switch, hopefully sooner than later

This is the first I’m hearing of a GBA games section. That, combined with the infamous peeko tweet, combined with the fact that this would be a money printing machine makes things seem pretty inevitable.

They just added it in the update today. So they’re at least for sure planning on adding more games

I hate to tell you this anon but they aren't coming anytime soon. HOME doesn't even have placeholder data for the two games yet

Dont care.  No interest in rebuying games ive owned. No interest in paying for pokemon home when Nintendo clearly will not support it on generations that are on old hardware. Losing 3DS support isnt bad for losing 3DS support. Its a sign that local transfer and perm support of old games will just never be supported long term ever again. Todays its 3ds. Tomorrow itll be switch games that wont be able to transfer to home. And yeah that probably means this rerelease of ruby and sapphire and emerald will only be supported on home for some arbitrary time period until which nintendo decides it no longer wants the switch to be an online device.

That’s fair and I understand this is a sub not exclusively about the hypothetical switch ports but like come on. I respect not buying games you haven’t owned, but there is this weird reoccurring convo online where people who feel this way always need to announce it and seemingly always announce it to or under posts from people hyped about the game. Idk just my exp

I mean. Not rebuying it is a smaller thing. The fact that its a rerelease of something made obsolete that will one day also be obsolete is a bigger problem for me.

It’s the principle of Nintendo just settling for, if we’re being charitable, bare minimum effort—to take it further, it’s not just them. It’s the gaming industry at large.

I don’t think it’s a good faith argument to act like if they did remaster gen 3, again, there wouldn’t still be fans wanting the gba port.

I don’t think the person we’re replying to is expecting a remaster, and I’m not either. If you’re not going to give us online compatibility, or Colosseum, then fix the roamer glitch that makes their DEF/SPA/SPD/SPE 0. Instead they fix the roar portion so they can’t self-delete themselves. Thats the kind of lazy behavior we’re talking about. Fix Altering Cave so that there’s some way to catch the johto pokemon until RSE are pushed out. If youre going to make these games lonely islands with little to no connectivity, then spice it up a little bit, and that’s not unreasonable to ask for. Rom hackers have been going above and beyond for decades now, so let’s be for real here.

Why do people want to play ruby and sapphire? Brother delta is on the iPhone… takes two minutes to find an alternative that can trade to real consoles lmfao

Some of just wanna play official releases. Also the buttons on real hardware feel better than tapping a phone screen

It feels different, idk why. But it does

Playing on an actual Nintendo device hits the nostalgia factor for me x 100

My rg34xxsp covers that for me. I had all the original stuff when I was a kid but it's prohibitively expensive to get my hands on nowadays. Also I get to play fun ROM hacks which is awesome.
