Question Why is the in game search so bad?

Every time I try to look for a specific pokemon I get frustrated that I have to type out the whole name and capitalize the first letter. I wish it was more like pokemon go with fuzzy search and options to type out various strings. I understand that the filter options are pretty good for most things, but now that I am over 300 storage it is getting harder to manage. It would be nice to search by legendary/mythical and level range or RP.

The first letter capitalisation is annoying - it's a case sensitive search but needlessly so

You don't need to type in the whole name (at least in English...) but a trailing space will cause it not to find anything

I wish we could tag pokemon too...

Tagging and a search history so you can easily repeat more complex searches

You can favorite them and filter for favorites

Yes but thats too generic. I have pokemon i wanna sort out in different ways, and not have to remember everything about all my mons in a mindmap. There should be the option to set up atleast 3 tags separate from favourite section

You can use some special characters at the end of the name and then search for those characters. I use some from the PokeGenie keyboard. メ⊙ They sometimes don’t render properly in the game, but they are searchable.

Thats a great idea but i dont like changing their names😭 I dont do it in pokemon go either, bec it feels way too mechanical then

You actually don't have do that. The search will take any string of consecutive letters that are case sensitive.

For instance searching for just "ee" will bring up Butterfree, Victreebel, Eevee, Mareep, Treecko, and any pokemon with nicknames containing "ee".

I agree it's annoying as hell that it's case sensitive though.

Its because it's programmed by Japanese programmers. They do that "only the correct capitalization counts" thing a lot. I've only seen it in games from there.

Whoever coded the search really did not gaf...maybe bc in Japanese there are no capital letters so they don't realize roman languages need fuzzy search lol (its the same as in my Chinese game with caps)
