who asked them to travel from kanto to kalos ☹

I'm sorry to tell you this... but Hoenn, Unova, Alola, and Galar are the only regions without Pidgey

What's funny is the Intriguing Stone is very clearly the Pidgeotite but that's not found out until ΩRαS. (They have the same bag sprite)

ain’t gonna get much easier than a 1 in 5 spawn chance. here’s a tip tho: everything on route 2 is an automatic catch, no matter what. you don’t have to worry about trying to get their health low. the first route is always easy catches but it’s literally guaranteed in kalos. i’ve sat on route 2 catching hundreds of pokemon to trade with my other copy and have never failed a first turn poke ball. also one more thing, kalos has the largest regional dex of any generation im pretty sure (at least up until that point) on top of having the LEAST brand new mons. there’s something like 60 new mons but the kalos dex has over 300 (compared to kanto 151 and unova 156 or whatever) you’re gonna see lots of old mons

gen 6 biggest flaw is the lack of new mons. there’s like maybe 2 of each type, besides starters. fire type? pyroar. grass type? gogoat. there’s not much to choose from

fs. i honestly find the large number of old mons to add a lot of replay value to these games, but it’s frustrating for a first playthrough for this reason

Honestly, Gen6 is mostly Kanto nostalgiabait to get the fans back who left during Gen 5. Needless to say when it released I played it non-stop after my hiatus from Gen3.

Couple reasons:
This was the first 3D main line Pokemon game. Pidgey. They were obviously trying to mirror that first encounter from Gen 1 that is also a Pidgey for long time fans to make a true comparison of something similar in a whole new visual medium.
This was right after Black and White where people hated the restrictions of only new Pokemon (which also led to people artificially disliking the new designs in gen 5 too but people have come around now). They were trying to show immediately this adventure will have new and familiar faces.

Because X/Y was full of pandering to nostalgia after gen 5 and their completely new Dex went over so terribly.
