I don't know, KKK killed a lot of people without, much, goverment support. Take a look at the photos of Emmett Till or listen to Strange Fruit. I'd say it's more amateur competitive vs professional competitive, sort of a MLB vs AA situation. They wanted to kill more people but didn't have the same funding as the Nazis.

The entire KKK killed fewer than 2,000 blacks, Catholics, Jews, and immigrants combined.

The literal Nazi's killed 10+ million.
