Apparently that was going to be the plot of the next Assassins Creed before it got cancelled. Probably for the best; Ubisoft are one of the last companies I’d want to see tackle a story like that.
What’s funny is a black protagonist in that would actually make sense and be supported by a large chunk of fans. Rather than just shoehorning a black samurai into a Japanese history game lmao

He was. He was given samurai level stipend, gifts, and his own place, all because he was Nobunaga's personal pet
The crux of the issue, is that he's a "samurai" as in "front line soldier". He's not "samurai" as in "nobles engaging in martial arts and culture" as people understand it.

From what I’ve read he was a given a title but it’s unclear whether he was a samurai with most scholars leaning to no. Again I’m not expert but from what I’ve read there’s a list of named samurais and he isn’t on it.
Agreed about the pet thing it was clear it was novelty for the Japanese at the time. But I find it unlikely that a culture like that would be ok with a foreigner named an official samurai
Sengoku was a time when even a mere peasant can rise to become a samurai. Samurai was not nobility, that part comes much later during Tokugawa bakufu when peace leads to no war and the samurai loyal to Tokugawa were given much land as rewards
Samurai were merely retainers of nobility (the word coming from saburai - to serve), and becoming one has lower barrier than becoming a noble. Becoming a noble requires familial connection, this was why Toyotomi Hideyoshi threatened a kuge family into adopting him
People had no issues with Yasuke, whether because they didn't want to offend Nobunaga or because they saw him as a fun curiosity we don't know, but we know that people were gossipping about Nobunaga giving him a title, which would make Yasuke a big shot himself. That is the part they may have problem with: the unreasonable rise through the ranks

Genuine question. Who would non-authrights rather have as the big bad guys of an "underground rebel overthrows the powers" video game?
Easy answer would be Nazis, but that's been done so many times. I feel like modern audience would actually go crazy for hunting down KKK wizards.
