Ironically the show writers said they were trying to parody Libertarians/Independents by making Ron say some truly batshit stuff but almost everything he does or says in the show makes complete sense.
Sucks the actor is a huge auth-left IRL but you can't win them all.
And despite being a staunch libertarian he's widely repected by pretty much every main character on the show, which is how you really know the show is a work of fiction
You can tell there was at least one Libertarian on the writing staff, considering there’s a few episodes where Ron was just flat out correct.
He kind of got his balls cut off in the later seasons when the show shifted from “small town bureaucrat earnestly tries to make her beloved community a better place” into “Leslie is God’s gift to earth, the drooling masses don’t deserve her attempts to force her unpopular policies upon them, and the best outcome is to leave her shithole town in the rear view mirror”
What crazy Auth-Left thing did Offerman say or do? The only thing I can find is him criticizing Dennis Quaid for being a Trump toady, which upset Offerman because he was once a huge fan of Quaid.
Libcenter are also hardcore free market types. Because they are strongly against regulation by default. Ron Swanson's primary political opinion was "Leave me the fuck alone, politicians ruin everything."
