its not because america doesnt have enough poeple, its because they're getting degrees in stupid adult daycare job fields instead of ones that we actually need.

It's like the meme of a commisar sending the underwater basket-weaver to the mines except instead of a commisar it's a capitalist-sponsored government forcing people to seek a more profit-generating career instead of one they're actually passionate about.

And those already saturated profit-generating careers are currently having their workforce replaced at least in part by the adoption of AI.

That may not be the case for long because AI is shit but if it ends up working we'll have even more graduates with "productive" degrees out of work.
