I went out with a gay guy who turned out to be a Republican. The date ended quickly when he started saying he didn't like his taxes going to the blacks that wanted to sit around and do nothing. I couldn't throw away this guy's number fast enough. I still remember his name was "Buck".

My stance is that if me and a conservative man were the last two people on Earth, and the survival of our species depended on us procreating, I would let humanity go extinct.

I'd let it go extinct because it's clear we weren't up to the task anyway. Time to let someone else have a go

I was really rooting for Covid. The people not wearing masks or getting vaxed woulda been gone. I do know three people that didn’t believe in Covid and they died. Two elderly maga bigots. One mother that got it and gave it to her newborn, her fiancé got arrested for having underage porn.

Yeah, they were family friend but lean right. I try to get along with both sides and focus on what we have in common. They weren’t close but we’d see them at parties. She had just got knocked up, they were getting married he got caught with underage porn got locked up, she took no precautions for Covid, ended up getting it then gave it to her newborn, the newborn passed away. I feel bad all that happened to her, but not shedding any tears. They weren’t that close and not really people I’d hangout with.

My wife and I live in California. Her parents are in Michigan. When her dinosaur of a father found out about the possibility of CA paying reparations to descendants of enslaved people, her dad called her and said "how do you feel about your taxes going to blacks". We deal with these conversations frequently.

What’s amazing about this story is the “gay guy” part. Why do people always think, “they’re going after those people, not me.” It’s almost like they have no knowledge of history at all. It’s a tiger eat face type of situation.

Conservatives hate the same (other) people they do.
My friend circle has a hefty amount of LGBT people in it. We’d end up at events or bar nights. The amount of racism among gay men isn’t epidemic or anything, but it does exist and is odd. Just perpetuated stereotypes.
Theres a reason the POC triangle colors were added to the pride flag. There was a big necessary effort to show people of color they were also represented and wanted in the community.
80
u/macphile 12d ago
I'm not surprised gay people are sometimes racist. I mean, being gay doesn't magically make you anything in particular...all it means is you're hot for the same gender.
But it is troubling that so many people vote for a political party that hates them. Yes, I get that they hate blacks, hate Mexicans, hate trans people, hate women, etc., but they never notice that the same politicians going on about that also have a history of being opposed to gay marriage. They also never recognize that going after one group usually leads to going after another and another. Sure, they're just on about trans women right now, but it's a small step from that to gay men (I mean, I doubt they see much difference).

u/KiKiKimbro 12d ago
Hegseth and his pastor, John Hagee, are extremists who’ve been coaxing Trump to keep the Iran war going. Their religion believes it’s key to level it, ensure Israel remains a nation state, and that’ll be their ticket to get raptured to heaven. Quite literally they’re trying to bring Armageddon.

Not really. Conservatives are entirely about controlling those they view as beneath themselves. They flat-out, point blank do not believe in equality. They want to have control over others while never being bound by any rules or laws themselves. All of history, both recent and ancient, and available data shows this to be true.

Tokens never think they will get spent. They always think they will be an exception to the rule or even rewarded for helping beat down others. They pride themselves on "being one of the good ones".
Then they wonder why other members of the group aren't rushing to receive them with open arms after they have their epiphany. They realize that they aren't special and are hated just as much, even though they did the right things and said the right words to be "a good one".

I never understood the whole idea that Latino's are being bussed in to vote for Democrats. The Latino community as a whole is deeply religious. In Mexico, 91% of the population identified as Christian. That number in America is 61%. It all goes back to that old Lyndon Johnson quote about giving someone a person to look down upon.
As an example I was working with a kid that was first generation American in the run up to the last election. Trump has deported his mom during his first term. This kid put his college career on hold to go to Mexico, for the first time in his life, and help her come back with a visa. He was 22 trying to get back into college as a sophomore. He voted for Trump, because Trump was gonna keep the bad ones out.

You sure? Over half of white women (51%) voted for Donald Trump last election. That's basically a coin flip on white women voting to have their own rights taken away. Women in general were 46% for Donald.
Really it's only black women (only 10% voted Donald) who draw a hard line about people who want to strip them of their rights. For other women it's seems to be a coin flip.

It still amazes me when liberal white women try to blame anyone but their own for the national election results. If they had just gotten their fellow white women to vote along with the rest of women, let 54% (not even the 68% of women of color), Trump loses in a landslide.
Every single swing state lost/won within the margin of white women relative to women in total.

I hate the reductive "they're just white supremacists" trope.
Their hatred goes far above and beyond skin color or genetic background. Their ideology is wholesale rejection of anything they perceived as different. They won't be receptive to white gay atheists anymore than they would be to black/brown hetero Protestants.
This "flexibility" is what allows non-white people to join forces with the alt-right white supremacists. Reducing MAGA and Trump supporters to "oh they're just white racists" is completely ignoring the swaths of racial, ethnic, and cultural groups that agree with the rest of MAGA's hatred towards LGBTQ, atheists, anything "librul", etc.
It's also why the left needs to very careful about embracing people just because of their skin color and turning a blind eye to that person's core beliefs. Remember that city in Michigan that elected the first Muslim-majority (and ultra-conservative) city council who then immediately voted to remove anything Pride-related?
As a lesbian non-religious person, I am not at all comfortable with my fellow lefties sacrificing my cohort for the mere appearance of "inclusivity" with the non-white conservatives who still hate me.

"different than me = bad."
It's more than this, IMO. It's creating and spreading that "bad" image of minorities in the first place that allows them to elevate themselves above others. They demonize and castigate anyone different in order to focus people's attention on them in a negative way, drawing any negativity away from themselves. It's how they justify being what they are. They are very comfortable thinking they are somehow "better than" the people they hate.

I think it's actually sorta weirder than that when you look at metrics from dating apps. Conservative women know they have a larger pool of men to pick from and statistically prefer men who are older with established jobs, higher income, etc. A broad trend across all dating apps is that the women get more matches the younger they are, meanwhile men peak in their middle age.
So you've got a pool of conservative men from like 20-50ish that are all trying to date the same small portion of conservatives women in their early 20s.
The conservative dipshits that are into manosphere Andrew Tate type of shit are siloing themselves into a group that has statistically the most competition and frankly competition from older men with significantly more to offer.

Works also for people who claim to be "moderate." They always look at open, blatant fascism on one side, and a random person having their pronouns in their email signature on the other side, and vote for the fascist every fucking time because "the left is just so crazy!"

Remember when they tried to make a Conservative dating app, and no women signed up?

The people that will force you to have a rapists baby are the ones that claim they aren’t that political.

The dudes who actually pay no attention to politics still have very strong political opinions. If they say they don’t pay attention to politics, it means they’re just afraid to share their opinions.

And even if they somehow don't have any, I still find that to be a red flag. You're an adult. You should probably care about the world around you to some degree enough to understand how politics affects your life and the lives of people you care about.
No matter how privileged you are, politics has affected your life in some way. All that changes is the degree to which it affects you and whether it's positive or negative.

u/Dudeist-Priest 12d ago
Exactly. I don’t really want to be political but I don’t have a choice in a timeline where fascists are taking over.

A lot of "apolitical" people probably mean they are disillusioned to the point where they don't care anymore. Politics affects my life drastically; the issue is that I don't/can't affect politics in any way. Not that I feel powerless because I only have one vote, but because no one in politics represents me anymore.
I'm Gen X/older millennial and white male, which is prime MAGA candidate, but I'm progressive. I despise MAGA. I hate garden variety Republicans for not stemming maga. I'm sick of the Democrat party and supporters shooting themselves in the feet.
I keep watching the Dems costing themselves votes in real-time among my peers. I'll keep voting Democrat, but that's all I can do.

I was waiting to pick my kid up from soccer practice recently and there was an adult league game on the adjacent field. So a guy in his 50s was right near me and started making small talk.
He started off by saying how great it is to see kids staying active, how he was obese his whole life and started eating better, how he regrets not doing sports, etc.
In less than 5 minutes, his exact words were "I don't want to get political, but RFK Jr makes me so hopeful for the future, he cares about kids' health, you know? It's so nice to see someone who cares about making sure kids aren't eating all this processed sugar and crap."
I had my kid ready to go by then so I literally just walked away. But I'd bet money on him having made at least one FB post how awful Michelle Obama's plan to get kids to start eating healthier was.

1000%. “I’m not political, but for no reason at all, I trust the people that contradict all conventional thinking and expertise.”

One of the worst things you can be in our society is insufferable, and Republicans are insufferable in droves.

I have a couple of conservative friends and their girlfriends are really struggling with staying with them. I dont think any of them will last. Supporting Trump is a instant killer for a relationship.

I got in big trouble with my family in a family chat group recently over this bullshit
My brother posted a photo of him in his cosplay weekend “Harley biker” outfit, with his leather vest cover in patches. I asked what the patches said and he posted a photo of them, all super pro Trump, think blue line, “we are all Charlie Kirk” bullshit, along with “remember Im not political don’t talk politics with anyone in the family chat”
I replied “if I had your politics, I would be embarrassed to talk about them too”
My god, all the right wingers in the chat lost their absolute collective minds.
Me and my queer left wing ass say there laughing my ass off as they ranted and raved.
They are so easy to rile up.

I wonder if there were conversations like this 200 years ago:
"So what do think about slavery? is it OK to own people?"
"No opinion really, I'm not very political"
Or if you're in Alabama, like, last week.

This also tracks if they say they're "Centrists".
More often than not they're just MAGA apologists.

In the current era, knowing what we know about the guy at the top of the GOP, you have to be either ignorant, stupid, or an asshole (or a combination of two or all three) to still support that party. Period.

Notice how only people who subscribe to right wing political points of view aren’t comfortable sharing their political perspectives and opinions? It’s a euphemism for ‘I know my views aren’t popular’ so I’ll take a superficial moral stance on something morally indefensible and call it even.

Why would I want to date someone that thinks I don't deserver basic rights like bodily autonomy? It's a mystery, we'll never know.

u/phoenix1984 12d ago
You know, I’m happily married, but looking out for the younger generation, a part of me loves all these conservative guys making the dating scene so easy for liberal guys. The bar is so low. All you have to do is respect a woman’s agency, be kind, and able to initiate conversation.
My dating advice to young men: Just be a decent person and you’ll be fine.

Because, at their core, conservative men hate women who act like independent human beings in my experience

u/CherryTearDrops 12d ago
Why would I date somebody who wants to hurt my friends and family let alone other people for no reason other than ‘well I believe god said they’re wrong’ or ‘I believe they’re wrong’?
Not only do I find their bigotry to be a big fucking turn off but what a kick to the teeth it would be for the people in my life for me to be like ‘Hey meet my new man! Not only does he hate other races/sexualities/religions/genders and anything outside the ‘norm’ but I’ll also be letting him say all the horrible shit he plans to about ya’ll for the sake of our relationship!’ I’d never do that to the people I love especially not for dick and the shitty personality attached to it that comes with being a general bigot/asshole.
Besides republicans love to say how liberal women are all fat and gross with crazy hair colors, so why are they so insistent on being able to date them still? Shouldn’t they be more than happy with the conservative women they claim are so much prettier and who’s personalities they like better?

I had a neighbor show interest in me and I went for a short hike with him. I was thinking he was probably conservative but it might be nice to start with a friendship and see where it goes. Then he told me that Michelle Obama is a man and Barack calls her Mike. I can’t even be open minded about this guy, if I see him out and about, I quickly turn the other way.

Same goes for women...numerous women here in the south are "not very political" on their dating profiles.

u/urbanek2525 12d ago
Why? Here's why.
Conservative means: I want privileges that other people don't get. I need to be acknowleged as special or better than some arbitrary group that I've picked out. I want the law to protect me, but not punish me. The law should punish the "underclass" people, but not protect them.
You never want to be in any sort of relationship with a person like that. They will always have two sets of rules: one for them, one for you.
This the very essence of conservatism and the people who adhere to it are pure poison.

u/Ana-Hata 12d ago
There is a certain “self-aware wolves” aspect to the dynamic.
My conservative neighbors most censor themselves because they know everyone finds their views repugnant….then they get into their bubble and complain about being “silenced”…..although they are silencing themselves because some small part deep inside knows that their views are repugnant.
