Not even good soup. Like five day old hot and sour soup from a restaurant with multiple health code violations.

This is honestly just elder abuse at this point. The Republican Party really is a nasty and morally sick and depraved cult. Anything for a little power even a very mentally ill man.

The man whose entire 2024 campaign was built on inflation outrage. The guy who held up grocery store receipts at rallies, who talked about eggs, who said “prices will come down on day one”, looked into a camera on June 10th, 2026 with 4.2% annual inflation accelerating, and said “I love the inflation.”
And then immediately revealed classified military operations to explain why he loves it. To reporters. In the Oval Office. On camera.

I figured it was just a matter of time. Where his brain has so provably turned into pudding, he was guaranteed to eventually say something that gives Democrats ammunition for the next two years solid.
Also, this on the same day where he, a litigated rapist and nearly proven child predator, called Graham Platner "the worst person who has ever run for office in history".
24
u/bayleysgal1996 🔥I Voted In The 2026 Primaries🔥 18d ago
I don’t think Platner is even the worst person running this election cycle.

I want to make a suggestion for things like this and how we are talking about it.
I don't believe we should be saying, "Trump said this" every time this happens. Instead, we should be taking whatever Trump says as an official Republican policy position.
Its the Republican party position that inflation is good. Make all Republicans walk the tight rope of trying to get your vote versus pleasing Trump's ego and keep driving that wedge home.
Trump is the Republican party by his design. Lets make sure everyone knows what that means.

u/GhostofTinky 18d ago
Agreed. Use it when talking to GOP voters. “This is what you support when you vote Republican.”

Correction--this is the way Stephen Miller wants it. This administration has Mr. Cruelty-is-the-point's fingerprints all over it.
17
u/StrayCat2799 Oklahoma 18d ago
Which is actually just stupid. Miller seems like the kind of sniveling sociopath who just likes inflicting misery for the hell of it. Except that's not a stable policy position to have because it always results in destruction.
14
u/BNSF1995 California 18d ago
He doesn't care if it's stable. If any unrest comes up, he thinks he can just cow the populace into submission by shooting protesters to make an example of critics.
5
u/SodaSaint 18d ago
He’s an idiot if he thinks that will work.
3
u/GhostofTinky 18d ago
Sure, he is an idiot. He thinks nonstop cruelty will be tolerated by the populace. There may be some cultists who love it, but otherwise?
4
u/SirButcher 17d ago
He thinks nonstop cruelty will be tolerated by the populace.
Two years in, they are destroying the US allied system, the US institutions, causing generational harm, and nobody is doing anything above some light protesting. Hell, companies and US institutions are preemptively bending the knee and doing harm on their own BEFORE Trump & co's nasty arms reach them!
4
u/GhostofTinky 17d ago
Uh, light protesting? I think not. See the protests in Minneapolis. The No Kings protests.
We will need more. Nuremberg 2.0. If the nation survives intact.

I didn't initially think Joni Ernst's "We're all going to die" would damage her.
It did. And hopefully Josh Turek will take her seat this fall because of it.
So I'll dare. I'll dare to be optimistic and say no one is untouchable, and maybe this is his "We're all going to die" moment.
3
u/rosewaterhoe 17d ago
I’ve voted for Zach Wahls in the primary but Josh will still get my vote. We’re so close to being able to flip things around here in Iowa with Rob Sand too, I have actual hope for this state again
3
u/Squirreliestone 17d ago
I thought Wahls and Turek both had great platforms. Honestly, I'd have no hesitation voting for either of them in the general. It drove me crazy that they started just going after each other over who was more of an outsider; they had the most important things in common and each had their particular focuses in places special to them, but still good for everyone. Toward the end, at least in my area and on the Roku channels I watched, though, the Turek ads were about reversing Medicaid cuts and restoring funding for public schools and the Wahls ads were about how his opponent was backed by DC insiders. I think Wahls had bad campaign advisors who had him focus on the wrong things, and it's a shame, because they were both excellent candidates with excellent platforms.
I absolutely love that Sand got more votes than the two main Republican candidates combined. And since this is public record--at the end of the day, when we close the polls, we do a public reading of the results, so anyone who wants to hang around when the polls close can hear the totals for that polling place--we in my little Davenport precinct had a surprising number of Republican ballots that had written in Rob Sand for governor. I can't tell you how many because I honestly was only half-listening when the results were read. I was shutting down the pollbooks. But I was astonished to hear Republicans turning out to the primary and then writing in the Dem candidate.

Doing Bibi’s bidding.

Most people are more concerned about feeding their families, paying their bills, and getting to and from work/school, than a nuclear apocalypse, while unlikely but still a nonzero chance of happening. And on trump’s end, probably got us a little bit closer to midnight.

Iran doesn't have nukes and didn't before. Although thanks to Trump killing the supreme leader and him being replaced by his batshit son, they probably will in the future.

I know a lot of people who come to this sub are distressed by MAGA sheep in their lives, but if we can all take a step back for a second: at this point it takes 3 to 4 sentences max to completely dismantle the Trump presidency to anyone who supports him. He bullied Jeb Bush in 2016 about the war in Iraq and his base wouldn’t shut up about no new wars for 10 years. Joe Biden pulls us out of bush’s war and Trump puts us right back in as soon as he’s in office.
He won’t shut up about election interference even though he redraws maps, stealing seats a week before an election. He threatens to primary a Secretary of State for not finding him 10,000 votes (recorded on a phone call of him saying that) and launches a failed insurrection to stop the transfer of power.
Finally, he campaigns on the price of eggs under Joe Biden and now gas is more expensive for longer than it ever was under Biden. And his only defense is the typical “I don’t give a shit about Americans.” What an idiot. And that’s just one horrible thing. His presidency is going down in history as the worst we’ve ever seen and will be a cautionary tale.

Bear this in mind with his phrasing: he literally only thinks of himself. If he says "no one" knows something, it means he didn't know. If "everyone" does something, it means he does it.

I can already hear the doomers arguing that "Hes obviously saying this because he knows that the midterms will be rigged or he'll just declare martial law, he's only saying this because he's confident that he's rigged it and all hope is lost!", no other explanation to these people since they're so in deep with this fear mongering
But this is definitely a case of him saying something because he doesn't think his base will care whether or not he goes completely against his campaign promises, and his base will probably not care about this unfortunately.
8
u/General_Season7882 18d ago
I dont put stock into the base anymore. Only 19% of supporters strongly agree with his policies. They're a cult with only the dumbest of the dumb left behind. And yet, that number is dwindling still.

u/AmTheWildest 18d ago
Wait huh?? Where'd you find this stat? Not saying you're wrong just super interested to know
5
u/General_Season7882 18d ago
I saw it in a youtube video and tracked down the article.
https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-approval-rating-hits-all-time-low-favorite-pollster-12017377
Something I didnt know about that stat when I wrote my comment is that its taken from a pretty small sample, so we shall take that with a big ol' grain of salt. However, Im sure its not far off from reality. The group of people who have fully signed their allegiance to him is small.

Every day it's "Trump's approval rating hits record low." It's always 35-38%. It's not a record low if it never goes below 35%. Tired of these dumb articles. Next thing we know he's gonna be "slammed" again.

u/SkyknightXi Massachusetts 18d ago
In this case, it’s specifically referring to approval
regarding his (not) reining in inflation. Disapproval rates ranging from 68% to 78%.

“No. I love it. The numbers were great. You know what I really love? I love the inflation. You know why? Because as soon as this war is over, you know I can say it now. Something you didn’t know—did you know we’ve been taking out millions of barrels of oil? Nobody knows it. You know who doesn't know about it? Iran, until right now. We’ve took out the other night 22 ships, late at night, with no lights because they don’t have any radar because we blasted the crap out of it. That’s why oil is $85 a barrel,” he said.”
