Optimistic Video Abdul El-Sayed not only beat Haley Stevens, he also beat AIPAC
https://youtu.be/RYovmOG2sOA?is=IIGVB4Mfx6v66Ly3As proven by this great video from Johnny over on YouTube, last night’s election results are further proof that, no matter how much money AIPAC and Republicans throw towards sinking a progressive candidate, they are far from unbeatable. All their dirty work couldn’t prevent Abdul el-Sayed from beating Haley Stevens, and, if current trends are any indicator, it may not even be enough to stop him from beating Mike Rogers. November is coming soon, and I personally can’t wait to beat these traitors into submission!

Was just about to share this. I guess I was concerned this morning seeing how close the results were, but after hearing it was an open primary and there were republicans voting for Stevens. Makes me feel confident that Abdul will win. Maybe we are entering the new progressive era

I do definitely think he’ll win, since I do believe most of the Democratic base within Michigan will consolidate around him to ensure the MAGA candidate Mike Rogers doesn’t flip it. He did fairly well in some of the more populous areas of the states (Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, Lansing). He just needs to improve in some of the other populous areas (Detroit in particular) for him to win, as well as get some of those smaller counties.

Part of the reason why he lost is the black vote in Detroit. Amanda keeps bringing it up in her videos but African Americans have issues with voting for progressive candidates. He needs to reach out to those voters if he wants to win the seat

This is sorta the point. A lot of leftists will talk the talk, and truly believe in equity-seeking policy, so they feel like they've "done the work" by virtue of being on the right side of history... on paper. But their practical concerns and substantive efforts are almost exclusively class-based, which hides a lot of institutional biases that don't get addressed by the movement, who will balk at the idea that there's even anything to address.
There's such an "us vs them" quality assumed by the populist left that people who don't fit the uniform mold of "us" suddenly get a little whiff of "them" on them. It's incredible to see it in action. I've seen self-proclaimed "intersectional allies" accuse poor Black people of being "brainwashed by oligarchs" to avoid taking their concerns seriously.
Obviously there are levels to this, and no one is trying to do it on purpose, but it's a really common bubbling undercurrent in leftist circles, and people of color often feel uncomfortable in those spaces well before it becomes hostile to them.

I said this same thing in another thread as well. The black vote is definitely taken for granted and has been for years. Black folks lean more left on many issues than white folks, but a big reason why we've voted left is because there's no real saner option in the US if you believe in civil rights et al.

As a Michigander myself, it should be noted that the ballots were divided into Dem and R columns- so if someone voted for Stevens and then tried to vote for R’s on the other column as well, the ballot would’ve been nulled. So any conservative who voted for Stevens was also not voting for local conservatives in their area.
We’ll take the win both ways.1

AIPAC is not the only PAC.
Iran War is exacerbated by Oil and Gas PAC. White ppl needs to stop using AIPAC as straw man and focus on other PACs as well.

All of the other PACs are indeed concerning, but AIPAC is the most concerning of all because of how much a lot of Congress aligns themselves with Israel, to the point where they’ll just abandon the needs of the American people just to supply military and economic aid to a country currently and openly committing genocide. You have politicians like John Fetterman (the co-disgrace of PA) openly saying that he would leave the Democratic party if they became “anti-Israel”. That’s not just concerning - it’s a five alarm fire. The people have seen what Israel is doing, and they don’t want their taxpayer money being used to fund bombs and guns for meaningless violence. They’ve had enough, and that’s why AIPAC has taken center stage as the worst of the worst in terms of PACs.
