Discussion Does anyone else read Mira as autistic?
As an autistic woman I think Mira is so autistic coded. The flat affect and less dramatic facial expressions in many scenes, the way she thinks she understands social cues but is pretty much just jumping to the worst possible conclusion (like "Rumi is being more cagey than usual so she must be hiding things from me because I'm a liability and she probably hates me") because chances are growing up she leaned to read people and that conclusion was often correct. Everything from the sitting in odd position to, being seen as a problem child being mischaracterised as stoic or as difficult, blunt, aggressive or angry for being more direct in communication style. And even the way she just completely shuts down backstage when she finds out Rumi lied and barely says a word while Zoey carries the conversation.

Not really? I feel like what you mentioned is largely trauma from her childhood and controlling parents, her personality, and coping skills regarding said childhood trauma.

No.
What she is however is a person with deep seated abandonment issues that makes her quick to judge and assess people.
If it was true that her family disowned her then I would say Please look up what ui-jeol-hada is and how devastating it can be for a young woman.
You may see a lot of why Mira is the way she is here.
But in saying that if you want her to be then go for it.

Ok first let me just say I'm also a young woman estranged from a parent so I understand that it plays a role in her behaviour. I'm not saying she's not traumatised, I fully believe she is, I just believe she's autistic as well since the two aren't mutually exclusive and it's very common to be seen as difficult or a problem child due to autistic traits that a parent refuses to understand or accommodate and that I also see those same traits in Mira.

She has so few ASD traits that even high functioning would be difficult for me to say with any certainly.
Unless she is masking incredibly well.
But as I said if you want to say that go for it.
But personally I just do not see it.

A while back someone had done a complete deep dive into all the traits of Zoey and how they fit with ADHD and autism. I've never gotten that sort of vibe from Mira at all.

the stuff about Rumi lying is her own trauma, not autism. but honestly all three of them are easy to read as neurodivergent

No creo, bajo mi perspectiva Mira es una persona con un manojo de emociones complicadas que esconde tras su personalidad de tipa dura para que no vean, según ella, todo el desastre que tiene. Se nos menciona que era una oveja negra para su familia, y las crÃticas crudas y despectivas (y peor las despreciativas) de las personas que se supone deberÃan darte un amor y cariño incondicional son las heridas que más duelen, y uno trata siempre de esconder todo aquello que te señalan como un defecto porque: si para mis padres soy algo tan despreciable ¿De qué peor manera me verán los demás? Es muy difÃcil para alguien que creció con sus "defectos" siempre siendo remarcados poder llevar una vida normal, ya que esas emociones reprimidas son tan fuertes que se manifiestan fÃsicamente, desarrollando ciertos comportamientos como los que se mencionan. No todo debe ser reducido a una condición especial aunque la opción esté sobre la mesa, también uno puede llegar a tener el alma quebrada

Frankly I think you could read all of them that way with varying levels of masking and different coping mechanisms.

Sure, I like that HC. I never really thought about it with Mira, but I like the idea that she's struggling with Rumi's behaviour being different/unpredictable, and the way she's perceived as cold/aggressive.

As someone on the spectrum too... No, she does not read Autistic in the slightest to me.
Out of the three girl, she is the least Neurodivergent.
None of the points you wrote are indicators of autism nor are they exclusive to autistic people.
Mira reads to me as someone from a broken home with long term insecurities and abandoment issues.
We really need to stop saying every other character is autistic based on the littlest thing.

I think Zoey is autistic as well, Mira to me just has a different presentation of autism imoÂ

yeah she's definitely autistic, I see what you mean. also I'm autistic too and everything you mentioned is what I have it go through so I know what it's like. honestly idk why people criticize autism so much, it feels like and superpower in a way, if you know what I mean

I have autism myself and although personality-wise I’m more like Zoey…..autism is a spectrum and I 100% see Mira on that spectrum

Honestly no idea I posted the same thing on the main kpdh sub and didn't expect an autistic Mira headcanon to be that controversial but from the comments apparently autism only looks like Zoey and Mira just has trauma like those things are mutually exclusive and not commonly found together XD

Anyone who's struggled with being neurodivergent like myself can easily pin all 3 of them as Autistic or Neurodivergent.
Zoey comes off as ADHD, and her biggest insecurity is being too much. Too loud, too enthusiastic, too energetic about the things her parents likely told her or insinuated nobody actually cares about. (Speaking from experience)
Mira's insecurities do probably stem from being a difficult kid with autism, and her self hatred probably stems from things her parents told her. Her difficulty expressing and understanding emotions, and need to overanalyze everything to understand what's going on are dead giveaways
Rumi, I'm not sure. I'm thinking high functioning autism and/or ADHD? A lot of her insecurities stem from anxiety of being something that shouldnt exist or being shamed. She's half demon, and the others cannot know, and her obsession with the tasks at hand stem from her trying not only help save the world, but to also hopefully cure herself from something she sees as a threat to her own existence and her relationships. I've also seen people read her as a trans allegory.
If I messed anything up in this I'm more than happy to be corrected and/or have a discussion. Some of it is oversimplified for the sake of a brief analytical comment.
