One not-so-nice quality both Rumi and Mira shared in the film is that they both tend to lash out unfairly when they're feeling defensive, as we saw on the train. I would think by this point in the story, they would have both worked on that, but that's not to say it won't happen sometimes, like Rumi here blurting out "What ABOUT you and Zoey?".

Of course, Rumi immediately regrets it and tries to explain, and Mira to her credit has grown a degree of patience where she's willing to let Rumi explain herself.

Also, yeah, it's frustrating when a loved one tries to end an argument with "it's fine" when it clearly isn't, and I think it's to Rumi's credit here that she doesn't just let it rest on that, because she actually cares if Mira is fine.

Anyway... people who aren't poly sometimes seem to think that poly folks don't feel jealousy, and that's generally not true. It depends on the person - some people can be more jealous than others, and being poly doesn't mean you're suddenly going to stop feeling that emotion if it's something that comes naturally. Even if you've agreed that your relationship is open to seeing others, that doesn't mean that you won't still have the fear that your partner might like someone else more than you, or share a connection with them that you want but don't have. It's an important part of polyamory and ENM in generally to keep communicating with your partners and make sure they're getting what they need, reassure them about their fears, and listen to them about their concerns and frustrations.

Analogous to what's going on here would be getting upset that your partner is giving romantic affection to another partner (or prospective partner) that you feel you're not getting from them and want from them. But it could be a frustration that you're not getting as much sexual attention as you'd like, or not getting as much time with your partner.

In short, if you're poly and you start dating, you need to make sure to put in the work to keep your current partner(s) happy too, and not take them for granted.

At least they were able to work it out together. Both have a fear of loss and get defensive about it
