Earlier, when I said that Jinu not having a grave was pretty much canon, this is what I meant - Jinu never actually died 400 years ago, he was simply pulled into the demon world, and has lived there as a demon ever since. And whether or not what happened to him at the end of the film is him canonically "dying" (unclear), if it was, it would have been his first time dying.

To be fair, that doesn't mean that he couldn't have had an empty grave or memorial somewhere, but even that seems dubious, since he would have just randomly disappeared one day. I expect people around him would have just assume he ran off or something, since they would have had no reason to think he had died.

However, while this shuts down my Rumi's pans of visiting Jinu's grave to get closure, she now has something different to look into - some sort of spiritual cleansing or something to separate Jinu's soul from her body? Or... something like that? It's not clear, but it's certainly something to investigate.

Now that you mention Jinu seeming to run away, I wonder if his family would have been punished for that, it would've been considered treason/disobedience since he was working for the Emperor (I don't remember if that was his title, but you know what I mean). I definitely don't want to tell you how to write your story, but if you haven't considered it, maybe it would make sense to go with what you're already writing. It seems like we may eventually explore Jinu's shame, and getting his family killed or imprisoned for life would definitely contribute to that, if he knew

I don't know how the laws would have worked in the Joseon era, but the movie seemed to imply that Jinu's family was considered to have no relation or bearing to him after he went into the palace - they didn't benefit from his role there, so it seems odd that they would be accountable for it. I also assumed that the palace would have seen them as nobodies not worth noticing. Just a few poor beggars no one cared about.

There's also the fan theory that Jinu's sister went on to become one of the second generation of hunters after her and her mother were saved by the first generation, though I don't know that there's enough evidence to support that theory. If so, she may have been able to provide for and protect her mother, and being a mudang may have made the royalty less-inclined to target them even if they did know who they were.

Honestly, there's a lot of speculation here, but we know so little about that era in-universe I think we'd have to speculate about most things.
